So you're surprised that it's getting fuel economy about what Ford said it should?
I know - I was thinking the same thing. 39 would be out-fing-standing. My cramped volt, which I drive way too many highway miles gets 35 MPG if I drive from AZ to San Diego.

He was saying 49 out of the 112 miles driven were electric according to the dash readout. So nearly half the time driving, the ICE wasn't even running, so 39 mpgs seems kind of eh to be honest.
Two points.

1. I do not trust the EV vs Gas calculator.

2. I will hypermile my hybrid Mav to 45 mpgs for an entire tank once just cause. I was able to get my Prius v to 47.2 mpg for an entire tank (manually calculated) driving 90% highway vs an EPA rating of 40 mpg.

So now at close to 200 miles driven I’m averaging 40mpg still with 366 miles left to go in the tank-wow this is over 500 miles per tank
This is great. At 200 miles driven, what is your impression of the Hybrid drive? Acceleration? Road noise?

Thanks so much for your information, and congratulations! Merry Christmas to you my friend! 🎅 🎄

It would need to add a lot more than 2mpg to be worth the additional costs, though.
Especially for the hybrid which doesn't have a premium gas recommendation.

Do either versions of the Maverick power plants display miles per Imperial gallon? For us old school Canucks 😉

I'm curious to know how the computer calculates that, as the engine will still need to run if the battery is low, or to help power accessories and such if the drain level is too high. I have a feeling that it's not very exact, especially when the latest TFL mpg video showed the computer was significantly off (showing much better numbers than actual).
Im software engineer, owned a ford 150 and a ford fusion, yes the computer in these two past cars was mistaken about the MPG.

Not gonna goninto specifics, but some calculations and correct measurements will give you the true Miles per gallon and its always going to be less than what the computer gives you, and way worse than whatever marketing gives you.

They’re basically ‘legally’ lying.

I am getting between 29 and 31 mpg combined on my AWD 2.0L XLT 4K Tow package I am at 1200 miles now. Premium gas definately adds 2 mpg to the results.

The cost difference for premium is not reclaimed by only 2mpg more.

Although the TFL guys are interesting to watch, they do have a tendency to do their own thing in spite of manufacturer's recommendations. Actual miles driven divided by fuel put in at each fill-up is the best way to figure out your mpg. In our KIA Niro Hybrid, the mpg is showing the last trip driven, not the tank load or overall mileage. I would imagine that is what the Maverick is doing.

On our KIA Niro Hybrid, the Green section would be charging the battery and the White section would indicate power usage. To me it looks to be the same on the Maverick. When applying the brakes or coasting, the needle would go to charging. The harder the braking, the higher the charge.

So now at 300 mile I’m averaging 43.7 mpg with 335 in the tank…I will say this is still mixed freeway and surface but the freeway speeds have been much slower than normal due to heavy traffic
