Yeah, no money for guessing that one. Ford and UAW have always had a fairly productive relationship.

When I started with Ford Jacques Nasser was on his ascendancy to CEO and the "Family" no longer controlled Ford. Nassar's vision for Ford was to stop the dirty business of building vehicles and simply design them for subcontractors to build in their own factories. His tenure was marked by a rush to the bottom in quality. Rusty bare metal ashtrays and fuzz covered cardboard they called carpet were blips compared to his personal relationship with Firestone leadership and the resulting Explorer fiasco.

October 22, 2001 News analysis: Where Jacques Nasser went wrong. In the USA, the company had lost 1.5 points of market share this year. Quality fell below General Motors, and Ford posted a $3 billion pre-tax charge to cover the cost of the Firestone tire recall.

It took 3 years for the "Family" to buy back control and buy out Nassar and to start selling assets :LOL:like Jag and Rover that Nassar believed polished Ford's image. All moves well received by rank and file workers. Think what your bias dictates but the vast majority of workers want to be proud of what they produce and Ford UAW members are no different.

Yep like I said, Im still poor lol!
My uncle 12 years older than I had a friend "odd job Leroy" who had problems passing in school who had a good understanding father. Leroy was taught survival skills. Initially how to sell his time to people who lived within walking distance. Feed pets, mow yards, clean garages, etc and concentrates on recognizing people. Leroy would sell programs at wrestling matches, football games etc. They were $0.25 each and when we would leave the house we always made sure to have "Leroy's Quarter" as when you would approach the gate and heard "James here is your program!" from 100 feet away and it was not cool to be seen stiffing Leroy. Leroy was taught to save at least 1/3 of what he made even if he had to eat Ramen Noodles. He would always pay cash for whatever he needed even a house. In 1980's he was involved in an electrical shortage accident installing flags at fair grounds and in order to collect $$$$ for lost wages and future earnings he had to turn in three years income tax. Leroy who had been taught to never stiff Uncle Sam disclosed that in mid 80's was making $110-120k per year. I always wondered how many cookie jars Leroy had since I'm sure he had at least 33% of whatever he had ever made. I expect that he would even pay himself back for whatever savings he had to loan to himself for what he bought?????

It is, a lot, and I am still poor. However I can live simpler here. Off grid and with a 1 mile commute helps a bunch.
A neighbor just came back from the Big Island with a gift. 7oz of kona coffee. $56!!!!!!

Remember when the car companys were about to go BELLY UP Ford is the only one that didnt need bailed out. FORD:):):)
Remember it well! That's actually one of the reasons I decided to stick with Ford and buy a Maverick. They didn't suck the teat of Uncle Sam (man, what an ugly image that conjures).

I read this, may or not be true.

Jim Farley is the cousin of the late comedian Chris Farley. Chris is most known for living in a van down by the river.
Random? Look up Matt Foley SNL skits. That was where Chris Farley played a motivational speaker that told kids that if they didn’t shape up they would be like him and end up living in a van down by the river.

Did Chris Farley actually live in a van by the river?

Our smoothie stand pays that for 5lbs of it from big island. Must be the neighbors farm. One person meal at McDs is $12-15 though. Milk is $5 for a half gallon. Our empty, dirt road, no driveway, empty, wooded, steep terrain, 3 acres was $400,000 10 years ago.

I did, long before it was cool to. I also lived down on the old railroad tracks, in a van.

My goal for retirement is to live in a van for short periods of time.
but not always down by the river.

Honestly all jokes aside, down by the river is quite peaceful, usually cooler than elsewhere, good safe place to build a fire, you can even sink drinks in the water to keep em refrigerated like.

Unifor represents Ford workers in Canada and they ended their work stoppage with a first year raise of 10% the first year and 5% more in the next two with COLA adjustments on an annual basis.
