turn signal hook up to side fender emblem

I did a temporary hook up from my latiat turn signal to a test light .
When I turned the signal on , the light lit up as well .
It will be easy to run wires from the turn signal to the side marker ,all I need to do is add a light .
Could their be any side effects ?
This mod seems way too easy , and why haven't more owners done this .
