I accidentally turned on the brake hold, when I was trying to switch drive modes.

Come to find out, it's one of my favorite things about the truck-

It's great not standing on the brakes all the time, in town...

But in the back of my mind, I sometimes wonder if I should really trust that I won't suddenly lurch forward???

I've had no issues. Features like that are generally included across a manufacturer's entire platform, so I've got no concerns with defects.

If you are not on a steep downward hill, or are not applying constant pressure/stepping on the gas (which would release the brake hold anyway) there is not really a big concern. When I tap the gas to release my brake hold (done it many times), I don't even start to creep forward. It just gasses it enough to release the hold. If it even gasses it at all......it could just be taking my input and releasing the hold without any throttle response unless I keep pressing the gas beyond that initial "blip". Who knows.

I love it. It stays on all the time, now if they would have made the auto start button stay off all the time. Should be a setting like brake hold that doesn't have to adjusted each start.

I am so used to it kicking in, that on the rare occasions when I dont come to a complete enough stop to activate it, I get freaked out when the truck sometimes does creep forward a tiny bit. I am like "Where are you going crazy Mav?!?" Then I step on the brake and look for the green brake hold light to come on.

funny story about the brake hold feature. 1st week we had our '23 Lariat Hybrid WIfey went to the store and upon returning got partway into the garage and had an issue.
where i park in the garage is quite tight and shes doing her best to 'ease' the Mav into the proper spot. next thing i know shes out there blowing the horn & basically freaking out because the truck wont go forward without 'mashing' on the gas pedal (her words), LMAO at this point. i ask her if any of the trio of buttons are on Honey?

turns out she had perched her purse right over the trio of buttons directly in front of the center arm rest and inadvertently triggered the brake hold function:) needless to say the purse now goes on the passenger seat or in the back if we're both in it at the same time.

theres a whole thread on where would be a better location for these buttons for those that care to dive deeper.

back to the OP's thoughts about the brake hold. my user model is the exact opposite. i almost never use it except in traffic jams or construction zone/accidents situations where youre lucky to move a few feet p/min. i have a good friend that drives a mustang machE and it has a 1 pedal mode that seems to function a lot like brake hold does on the Mav. maybe i've been missing out ll all this time?

Feature works great. I've had to rent a couple of cars recenty, and they don't have this feature. Makes me mad.

One of the most underrated features ever.

My son was riding with a lady who kept on turning the feature on and off. She didn't realize that she could just leave it on. Even between starts. She thought that she would not be able to drive from a stop with it turned on.

Bern using that all the time over a year on my '22 Mazda CX-30. Need to reset every start tho. The Mav 's full time when set, definitely better IMO.

Turned it on accidently once. Thought there was something wrong with the truck for a second. I can see it's use on hills. But have had many vehicles with sticks so I am used to dealing with that. I will have to try it more. Sometimes I think some of these features suck until I actually use them.

I'm like you, never gave it a second thought until I turned it on accidentally-

But I went ahead and tried using it in town, and now use it constantly...
