It's the tires. Put a set of 235/65-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W on any other AWD Maverick and you'll get the same mpg as a Tremor, stock.
No, you absolutely will not.

Its the revised front air dam more than anything that causes the loss of MPGs.

Over the life of my Tremor (4,600 miles) I am averaging 25.5mpg. It easily exceeds the EPA ratings of 20/24.

I run top tier 93 only, and I have driven probably 60/40 split for highway and city driving. In town I am average high 23 low 24s. Highway driving (75-80mph) returns 25.5-27mpg.

On a recent 1k mile road trip - I averaged 26.9mpg

I love my Tremor and the increased capability of the advanced AWD system for me is well worth the hit to MPGs compared to an AWD EB but they are both great options depending on what a buyer wants.

For me I wanted the ability to lock AWD, and lock the rear to get me to places I need to go around my property in Carolina.

I saw a window sticker (digital) for an '23 XLT Maverick with tremor package states 22/28 mpg combo while fueleconomy.gov states 20/24 mpg combo for the tremor.

Can someone confirm which one is real? I'm looking to buy a Mav but if tremor package is the same mpg as the awd version at a good price I'll get the tremor.

Thanks!
I have a ‘23 Tremer and drive mostly highway in Florida and am averaging 26MPG. If I stay city drops to 24 ish. I Run 87 octane top tier. I don’t baby it and usually have cruise on also. I have had the truck 2 months and already have 7,600 miles. Best I have seen so far is 26.3 coming back from Georgia.

I drove 5k miles on a set of 235/65-17 Wildpeak that came on my First Edition awd ecoboost, much of it highway. I've done 24k in another truck with 225/60-18 Michelin Primacy. The First Edition got at least 3 mpg less in the same conditions when going 82-85 on I-70.

I don't have a Tremor to compare but the real proof would be finding someone that has removed the Wildpeak from their Tremor and installed a less aggressive tire to see what mpg they now get at highway speeds. In town, it doesn't hardly matter at all.

Of course if someone uses a smaller tire they will see an increase in MPG compared to a larger tire. Nobody is arguing that.

it's the tread pattern rolling resistance much more than the diameter and weight. aggressive all-terrain with 14/32nd depth vs mileage focused all-season with 8.5/32nd tread depth.

Thanks for the pictures and feedback! It make sense that the tremor use slightly more gas. The rear differential is more massive to make up the 'advance AWD' system, it's much wider and bigger, therefor heavier and more friction. Unless I saw the wrong parts here.

The tremor is bad ass alright but I think I'll pass. Going by what you guys are getting, 26-ish on the tremor and 34-ish on the EB awd, I'll save $560 a year on gas based on $3.60/gal & my 17k miles/yr driving. Plus there's no off-roading trails here.

Averaging 22.9 mpg in my tremor , 2500 miles , one trip to Tahoe and some off roading.I expect to worsen as the flat out suspension parts have arrived and I got 32” bfg Mud terrains coming.
still 10 mpg better than my full size bronco or Mercedes s600.
even 5 mpg + mpg better than my sons exterra with 31” big all terrains.
tires and average freeway speed will set the number.
small stiff over inflated tires and keep it at 60-65 mph average you will crest 25 mpg.
average freeway speed in San Diego area is 70-77 lately so with a off road tire just eats the 5.99 a gallon stuff up.
kinda sucky.

On pure max mpg. Seriously it's all the skinny pedal. I feel the air dam is maybe responsible for 1 or 2 mpg and the tire diameter and tread pattern is about the same. When I had access to highways( I know, I know island people problems), I got our Tremor to run 31 mpg on a back highway. Given the weight the height of air under the truck, the air dam to feed it, and the tires. Everything adds up to match the equivalent to the mid 30s that a standard Ecoboost can achieve at max.

So if max mpg adds up decent at hwy speeds. That leaves the way the Tremor makes people drive around town that eats away the mpgs. The suspension, the shift patterns, the knowledge you are driving a sweet machine. It psychologically coerces you into driving a lil harder and eats away at your mileage. That's my theory at least.

Thanks! Those are great numbers for the tremor.

What about the colder seasons?

In my 23 Tremor I get between 24 and 24.5 around town. On the highway at reasonable speed i have gotten 27 to 28 MPG. Considering that my F-150 used to get 12 MPG I am very happy.
