new to this . just retired. got a 2025 maverick. and the transmission valve body fault was flagged. shift to drive... truck would go to park automaticlly. had to disconnect the battery to reset. truck was able to shift to drive , and did not require a tow. chk engine light remained illuminated however. also truck had no shifting issues at all on the way home. or on the way to the dealer the next day. NOW engine and tranny need to be removed from truck to replace valve body ..CODE 24S33. not sure but that is what my research reads. not felling good about this , lost faith in this truck.....

The valve body is essentially the "brain" of your automatic transmission. It’s a hydraulic control center that directs fluid to different clutches to change gears.
The Fault: If a sensor or a solenoid (an electronic gate) inside that valve body fails, the truck doesn't know which gear to engage.
The "Shift to Drive" Prompt: This often happens when the computer loses track of the gear position or detects a pressure drop. It’s trying to "reset" the engagement, but if the hardware is stuck, toggling the dial won't help.

Sorry to hear about that! Thinking about that design "flaw" makes me ill. Since I haven't heard of this before, hopefully this is a one-off failure.
I can absolutely understand your loss of confidence in the truck!

Code 24S33 is manufacturer recall issued by Ford in May 2024 (with updates and expansions noted into late 2025/early 2026) affecting certain hybrid models of the Ford Maverick (primarily 2022–2024 hybrid versions, built roughly between May 2021 and April 2024

Seems it is affecting the OP’s ecoboost too? OP, since you are covered by warranty - let the dealer reset instead of trying to do it yourself. Is a hassle for sure!

Not even the same code the OP posted... the one you listed is for F-Series super duty trucks. I assume this was a typo.

Given that the OPs vehicle is a 2025, it seems unlikely to be related to that recall. I believe that recall was related to a problem with the software update from an earlier recall, but there were several like that, so I could be mistaken.

Something strange is going on here. Usually vehicle trouble codes are Pxxxxx.

Hopefully MrMark(OP) isn’t being jerked around by a misinformed service dude/dudette!

@Mr.Mark
A valve body is a prone to failure point in automatic transmissions.
The usual problem is a failing/failed solenoid, but a bad solenoid doesn't say much overall about the vehicle.
Parts that are mass produced sometimes fail due to a manufacturing defect.
That's why warranties are there.

The good news is the truck is under warranty.
Your issue is covered under the 5 year / 60K mile powertrain warranty.

While the truck remains under the 3-year/36,000-mile bumper to bumper warranty, you can buy an extended warranty that can go out considerably longer if you are worried about it.

You can buy a different vehicle, but that's no guarantee you won't have a problem, as any new car can have a problem that may require repair.
