I have a 2024 Maverick and have an issue with my transmission, When driving about 35 mph and the tranny keeps searching for the right gear,,, I can see the tach moving between 1500 to 2500 rpm,,,I can feel it all the time and wonder why I need 8 gears for this to happen,,, it is extremely irritation and my dealer has no idea

I’ve owned two Ecoboost Mavericks and they both hunt for gears in the lower range. Terrible in the cold temps too.

I don't think that is normal at least based on my own experience with an ecoboost 4k tow. It actually shifts very well with regards to not hunting for gears. My only minor grip is at low speeds it intentionally upshifts too soon causing an engine lugging sensation as many have reported. Perhaps the non 4k behaves a little differently under those conditions.

My 2022 Lariat EB...When in sport mode if I accelerate then take my foot of the gas the tranny stays in that gear (what ever gear it's in since we can't see that info) until I accelerate again, then it shifts...I also watch my tach and it's turning 3k rpm and stays there....All other drive modes work fine

I've noticed that as well, but I still drive in Sport mode 90% of the time. However, it does solve the original poster's issue. I like that Sport mode down shifts more aggressively when slowing to a stop and turns off the damn start/stop function. I wished it had shift selection as an option, but I try to be mindful not to do a hard accelerate and suddenly backoff. My other vehicle has a clutch and when the over rev happens, I still instinctively push in the imaginary clutch pedal with my left foot.

My Escape does the same at low speeds, even in ECO... Was hoping that would go away with the Maverick (Build date, week of Sept 2nd).

Change Trans Fluid. Helps clean out the Valve Body.

Clear Adaptive Driving Memory and re-form your Driving Profile.

Good luck - report back

Thanks for the replies. I bought my little beast in February used so I had all the fluids changed out. Only had 20k miles but wanted to set my benchmark and that included the brake, tyranny, full synthetic oil, even the windshield fluid, PTU & RDU fluids as well...

press the L button on your shifter and try again, or select tow mode. either should convince your Mav to settle on a gear.

It's also possible your trans is still in learn mode and will settle on it's own.

Well I know it is not not a Maverick but my 2020 transit 8 speed work truck did that and was the torque converter

Since this is a brand new Maverick with only 1200 miles on it I wouldn't put changing trans fluid on my radar but will think about it
