Yea so 23 Maverick XL Eco. 76,400.1 miles and my transmission cratered on me. had the fluid changed at 60k miles. yes I drive 150 miles a day in West Texas. I don't hot rod or even tow with it. luckily It died in Kerrville so my tow was only a couple miles, bad news a remanufactured transmission is $7300. This Sucks. no option or a new one.

Sorry to hear about this.

Is that including labor and everything? And I'm assuming when you say you had the change done, it was the dealer that did it?

I have to mention to other readers: This is why the extended warranties are so important. $7300 for a transmission replacement. Even just a valve body service the warranties will pay for themselves now. It's insane.

Did you do a drain and fill or a fluid flush?

Dealer I bought my Maverick from has a 200,000 mi warranty that covers the truck after the 3-year $36,000 mi from Ford. 100 deductable transmission is one of the items covered as well. 👍😎

SO I went originally to Jim Bass in Angelo for a fluid flush and they found a gasket leak. got that changed and then started leaking again a couple days later and they changed the other gasket. with those they went a ahead and changed the fluids out. Haven't seen another leak.

been three weeks and they just called me to say it is ready to go. Reman tranny now has a 3 year unlimited mile warranty
That's great at least. Hopefully this one serves you better than the original.

This is really interesting. I work in a Ford parts department. Ford doesn't list a reman trans for the Mav yet. I'm curious as to what they actually put in your truck.

If you could post the part number for the trans I would appreciate it. I want to do some digging on this one.

it's water under the bridge now, but it always bothers me when someone does a fluid flush and then shortly after that component has issues.

was it having symptoms before the fluid flush, or did you just do it as an early / preventative maintenance? (ford says the transmission fluid is due for replacement at 150k, which many people think is overly long / delayed.)

NO I decided to do it as preventative before the drivetrain warranty went out

I can say one of the shops I used to work at stopped doing flushes on anything over 60K that had never been flushed before. Had a few have issues and it wasn't anything we did. So not worth the hassle as a shop to continue doing it.
