You are the first to have noticed what is in my profile so you win. They only made 5000 of these in 2001 for the whole US market. People love them but I am now too old and fat to get in and out of it easily. My other vehicle is a Tacoma so I mostly drive it now and will keep it as a spare. If i sold the MR2 outright to a private party or Carvana, etc I would want to fully disclose the oil usage which would mean even less than $5000, maybe only $2000 since it needs a new engine to deal with the oil usage. The dealer is playing games with me so I do not mind playing games with him.
I do no care about your current age, weight, what your daily driver is, or the games you are playing with your dealer.

I think you should be aware though that in the last 5-7 years the market for JDM vehicles from the early '90s to the mid '00s has skyrocketed. Vehicles like the Supra, WRX, S2000, and many others including the Gen3 MR2 have gained significant value.

Now I'm not saying you need to sell it locally all I'm saying is do a little bit more research before you trade it in. You might be surprised at its value even with engine trouble. Of course that is contingent on other factors like the interior condition and exterior condition but don't count it out because it has a bad engine.

This place and many forums like it are filled with older guys who don't appreciate JDM vehicles. They like their old school Mustangs, Camaros, Barracudas, ect and that's fine but trust me the JDM market is more robust than you might think.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it and of course best of luck in whatever you decide to do.:)(y)

Think Japanese sports cars from the early '90s to the mid to late '00s and beyond.

Bro I literally said that in my last post.......see OP old guys hang out on forums. A lot of the younger guys interested in a Gen3 MR2 graze in different pastures.

Well technically JDM vehicles are from Japan (Japanese Domestic Market)
Not just Japanese make cars
They would all be right hand drive because that how’s they drive over there
Basically think first owner was in Japan

Japanese cars sold in the US are not the same but lately people have been lumping them all together as the same

My Skyline was born and raised in Japan only came over here at 25 years old because that our dumb law

Anyone buying a 20 year old car is fully aware of some issues may be present
If he’s interested in your MR-S it’s because he’s an enthusiast of some sort

I would absolutely not trade it in, you’ll get more selling outright 100%
Crazy is uses a quart every 200 miles, I had a bug that did that but it was marking its territory everywhere it went

I would find an MR2 forum like this one and post it on there. You may be surprised what people would buy it for. The forum members know the vehicles inside and out, all the strengths and weaknesses.
Years ago I wanted a Boxster. Went on the Boxster forum and learned as much as I could and then bought one from a forum member who had every document, receipt etc from when he purchased the car new. Never had a problem with that car, just outgrew the 2 seater.
