Do you have a loan on the bronco? Title in hand will be an easy flip for the dealer whereas CarMax/carvana the hand over value would be the same. I can highly recommend getting a value by both CarMax and carvana, then getting the trade amount from the dealer. Let the dealer give u a number first, so you have something to laugh at. Then show them CarMax/carvana number. If they want to match, to with dealer, if they won't budge go elsewhere. You could always sell it private party but dealing with morons on Facebook marketplace is not worth it

I am buying a new Maverick (in transit) and trading in a car (2023 Bronco Sport) for the first time. There is a Carmax down the street from the Ford dealership. Should I see what they offer before going to Ford for their appraisal? I surely wanted to leave my trade in and take the Maverick all in one day and would not be able to do that if I sold to Carmax. I understand you get a bank draft that might take a day or so before funds are available. I guess if Carmax offered a lot more it would be worth it.
I had a 2023 BS BB and now have a 2025 Maverick.Just curious did your 2023 BS have a bunch of rattles in the dash?

I just got a 25 loaded Lariat and wanted to trade my 22 FX4 also loaded with 14k, truck looked like the day I picked it up or better, the dealer offered me crap 21k, Carmax offered me 27,500, CarGurus offered me more but to confirm had to drive a 45min and look for a ride home, didn't feel right Carmax is a mile away and will drive me to pick up new truck at dealer. I was very impressed with their operation and am not easily impressed after working for dealer for 40 years. On day of drop off they handed me a check in about 20 min. My dealer said they will never give you that much, you know I had to shove that check in their face, that's 6500 even losing the tax saving that they always throw in your face I made out very well. I think because they have so many 24 Mavericks in stock 14 that are not flying off the lot because of the 25s out they lowballed me or they just figured am stupid. SO check out Carmax.

Take into consideration the taxes you save by trading in bs selling.
In Virginia you pay tax on the sale price, they do not deduct the trade equity.

I was trading in a 2023 Silverado 1500 Custom. I got a offer from Carvana, Carmax, and the Chevy dealer where I bought it because they constantly said they would pay over Blue Book for it. The Chevy dealer was lower than Kelly or any other appraisal site. The Ford dealer offered exactly what Carmax did and 1500 less than Carvana. As I was walking out the sales manager asked what he had to do to make the sale today. I said come up 750 on the trade, split the difference between them and Carvana, and he said okay. I ended up getting 31,500 for the Chevy. They sold it 2 weeks later at 36,000. They were happy and I was happy to be rid of it.

If anyone is wondering, California taxes the full price of the vehicle purchase. There is no offset or reduced sales tax if you trade in a vehicle.

That's what they do in Texas =™the sale price is AFTER THE TRADE IN".
But thats not true in ALL states. So telling the OP he will save sales tax is false in Virginia!

I refused to order a Maverick because at the time of arrival you'll be at that stealership's mercy on your trade. I like the 2025 but refused to pay the extra money they added, besides I don't need AWD. I like the Maverick and I was willing to travel in order to get a good deal, and I the end I got it on a 2024, brand new.
My local stealership wanted to give me $26K for my 2024 SUV ( I paid $28K for it) and Carvana offered me $28K. I drove 4 hours plus to a different state and got $29,500 for my trade and paid about $33,300 for the Mav, and an extra $800 in fees.

Not many people are buying cars now days. My local Ford got about 30 2025 models and they were willing to take about $500 off from the sticker price. The sticker price from mine was over $39K and I got a nice chunk off. I'm happy I saved over $6K and not having the front new facia, tablet and AWD. Same 2025 Lariat with all options, including sunroof would have cost me about $45K, NO THANKS.

My 2 cents here, I would do a trade to save on the taxes (depending on the state-I'm in FL). And If the stealership doesn't at least match the best offer from Carvana or Carmax I would just walk away and let keep the 2025. Plenty Mavs out there if you really look and are willing to travel, specially to rural areas where people prefer bigger trucks. Good luck with the shopping.

I'm in Virginia and they tax on the retail price not the after trade price. But our rate is 4.15% on cars so it really balances out. I also bought a 2024 on the lot because I want to see what I am buying before I buy it. 2024 Lariat, AWD, 4k not because I needed or even wanted the AWD and 4k towing but because I got a great deal on it, less than a 2025 xlt with the issues you listed that many will say is BETTER but not in my opinion. I did have the verified offers from 3 ppalces with Carvanna the highest and to sell the Maverick the dealer agreed to split the difference from their offer and Carvanna. I didn't tell them I had offers until after they gave me their offer. I said I would be back in a few days after Carvanna buys my trade and they said what can we do to make the sale today.
