U.S. Imports of Crude Oil (Thousand Barrels) (eia.gov)

Well, that was easy.

EDIT: What I suspect you saw, or some news article told you, is that for a handful of months the US exported a thousand or so more barrels of petroleum products than it imported. This is true. And if we sprouted a communist or fascist government that nationalized every single company in the country, canceled all imports, and redistributed domestic oil products nationally, then by God we would have been energy independent for a couple months.

Guess what we didn't do.
So my point was correct, the USA was briefly energy independent in 2019.

If you're importing a thing, you aren't independent on that thing. What constitutes 'independent' to you is bizarre.

Some of the oil imported is a different grade which refined and exported. The USA didn't need to depend on foreign countries for domestic use in 2019/2020.

Almost all companies are feeling the pinch. The commercial truck market is even worse than the auto market-years out on new orders and used trucks selling for more than new ones cost a couple years ago.

We are definitely in uncharted global supply chain territory. Not just automotive. Last year I was optimistic about by oct maverick order. Now wondering if it will get built in 2022. Supply conditions are jot trending in the right direction.
You should be ok I ordered in October as well and it shipped last week

Sorry im not seeing the relevance of these comments.

Are you trying to argue that they sold one day's worth of gas at a higher price than they should have? If so, please highlight the relevance of this? I dont see it. Even if true, one day out of an entire year is hardly noteworthy.

But yeah, "big oil bad" i guess.
Its best not to engage that type of poster lol it never ends with anything but extra head scratching 🧐

like seriously… two nations are at war… and someones worried about resulting gas price conspiracies? Cmon people lol

I’m a bigger guy, at 6’1 too. My dad has a 21 Tacoma and I the Maverick. The Ford has such superior interior design when it comes to roominess and spaciousness. For one, the visibility is great all around vs. Tacoma. The windshield too is large and wide open, foot space, knee space, A-pillar visibility, etc. all better. That’s before the benefits of space in the rear seats with Mav. The Tacoma feels like you’re in a little Honda S2000 and not a truck. The Maverick feels like you’re in a SUV - I noticed you sit “in” the mavericks where our departed F150 felt like you would sit “on” the truck. Anyway - I could care less what Toyota does. They have good dependability but in my opinion ugly designs, over-hyped and I’m not interested in them whatsoever.

Here's a non-political response to the "energy independence" exchange: Since oil is an international commodity that's produced, processed, and sold by multinational companies, it's not possible for the US to be "energy independent"--even if we are a net exporter. Prices, supply, and demand are all dependent on the world market, which means that we can't be independent. The only way we could become energy independent is if we nationalized all domestic oil production, refining, and sales--which isn't going to happen.
