I've been driving my 23 hybrid for 2 years/18k miles and the brakes are so touchy I can't really get used to them. Anything close to a panic stop and it's horrible.
My question is, has anyone heard of an update for this?
I know the 22 had this problem. Even though mine is not near as bad as the 22 (I drove one) it is still annoying.
I think part of it might be the complete lack of play in the brake pedal, I guess I'll take a look and see if there is a way to adjust it.
TIA

Talk to your dealer, I would.

I’d call my 2024’s brakes powerful and responsive.
Mine shine on sudden speed reductions in switchbacks. Extremely accurate and yes very sensitive to driver inputs.

I M H O the best brakes I’ve ever had.
Even better with 600 to 800 pounds in the bed.

Drive modes actually change the brake feel. Try slippery. It requires a lot more pressure but it is much less jerky. It allows you to coast forever too.

The brakes stop the truck very well.
I was hoping someone would know about an update or something before I have to leave it for a day or 2 at the dealer.

The brakes work by counting the mm's of pedal movement and balancing the sharing between regen and hydraulic based on that distance. Concentrate on distance of pedal movement without considering physical resistance to further movement. In extra heavy humidity it may be beneficial to press pedal hard to clean moisture off of the rotors when you first start driving.
ETA: Try feathering the B Pedal and taking 6-10 car lengths to stop from 20-30 mph.

That update was early on - maybe your 23 production date could be included in it - but you said you could tell a difference and yours is better.

In which case probably just the way it is.

Can you get your EV coach showing (not brake coach), and if you are at higher speeds braking just barely into the pads - do feel the issue?

But yes - there is barely any MM of play in the brake pedal, at least on mine.

This was max regen - only 0.7 mm (this may be at an actuator, because the pedal does seem to move more than that, but good comparison), decent brake pressure is shown as 1.1 or 1.2 mm, and I mean higher brake pressure than the Auto-hold even uses. I can jamb it up to 2 mm but that's a hard press and no one better be close behind.

I find the opposite on my 2025 hybrid.

My 2023 Tremor had extremely sensitive brakes similar to what @Cherokee reported - I found them to be pretty awesome once adjusted.

My 2025 hybrid - I do try and feather the brake for regen purposes but I find having to apply much much more force than I have in most other vehicles to achieve equal stopping power.

I would call the 2025 hybrids brakes numb and lacking in any feedback.

Thanks for the replies.
I think the correct wording might be they are grabby/touchy.
I have an appointment next week, they are going to pick it up and see what they find.

I have a 2024 Hybrid and especially at lower speeds find them to be grabbing and touchy. After your trip to the dealer, please post if there’s a solution.

Well, yeah, kind of, sorta. Except that the brakes are undeniably grabby. I don't know if it's just a Hybrid thing. My right foot has it all figured out 99% of the time, but my wife hates to drive the Mav.

It's a hybrid thing.

Especially if you are near the visual line of regen to where the brake pressure should be applied from the looks of it, and speed is slow. Which means anytime you are slow enough the pads are going to be used.

I'm wondering if this is a case of the Electronic Brake Booster not really doing the pressure it should when it should. Like visually you are shown that you should be in regen only, but in reality the pressure is being unevenly applied, high and low, causing more/less pad grab.

My scan logs have always shown my right front wheel is given more pressure than the other wheels (except when in Slippery mode and rears are engaged first and slightly higher pressure).
But I've never tried to visually confirm if the pressure reading starts on the edge when it shows you are going over.
I've confirmed getting close does not, but not right up to the edge, maybe bounce over, come back to regen side, ect.

There have been EBB issues before. I'm pretty sure that was the part a reviewer said was cheaper than what was in other hybrids from Ford so far. So the software update could only do so much.

What a great and awesome response! Except that my brakes are still grabby and my wife hates to drive the truck. Can't it be better somehow? Please? Come on Ford, you can do this.

Probably not anything to do about it.
Because they already did in 22MY (some 23MY?) and applied that update to ongoing production.

Now - you could be having an issue with hardware - that cheap component or sensors may not be working correctly.

So it'll be a matter of them comparing and yours is really different and worse.

Maverick brakes require "finesse", they are not like "regular' brakes. I believe anyone that doesn't drive the Maverick full time and becomes accustomed to the brakes, is going to have a problem with "touchy" compared with their normal vehicle.

Folks that wait till the last second to apply brakes and give them a hard push are in for an awakening!🤣
