With my past trucks, which were used, abused, and a lot less reliable, I'd carry a bunch of tools and spare parts. I did that even when I got newer trucks that were more reliable and still under warranty. Then I've come to realize that I drove all that crap around for years and rarely needed anything.I'm probably going with 1/4" metric socket set, a few of the most common metric wrenches, a crescent wrench and channel locks. Ill add fuses, small LED flashlight and a ratcheting screwdriver with multiple bits. I'll think of more I'm sure.
Now I dwindled it down to the essentials that all fit in an InstaCrate from Costco. I don't have an entire itemized list, but the ones I know off the top of my head (and thus probably use the most) are:
- Tub-O-Towels
- Blue paper shop towels
- compact 1/4" impact driver
- Impact socket adapters
- Trim tool set
- Utility knife
- double-ended box wrench set
- Three sizes of pliers wrench (much better than adjustable wrenches)
- Zip ties
- Flush cutters
- 4-in-1 flip screwdriver
- Rechargeable flashlight
- Collapsible 1/2" breaker bar
- Lug nut flip sockets
- Couple blocks of wood
- Lithium jump pack
- OBD-II reader ($50 one, but it has a 2.8" color screen and can read extended PIDs)
- Fuse set
- Hose clamp set
- Rescue tape
- Electrical tape
- Blue painter's tape
- Scotch Extreme mounting tape
- Bailing wire
- Electrical crimp connector set
- Roll of 4-conductor trailer wiring
