Hi folks,

I’m looking to troubleshoot my BAK Revolver X4s hard roll up. The latch on the passengers side works intermittently—I’ve squared it off a number of times only to have it loosen after 2 or 3 uses, which tells me I’m close (and it’s not a defective unit).

Also, adding my obligatory grip about the poor quality of the end cap. Suggestions to secure or replace welcome!

Those end caps are way too thin and weak, and also provide easy access to the latch holding the cover closed. Mine broke just opening my rollup cover. What I did is I got a 1/4" x 3/4" stainless carriage bolt, stainless washer, and stainless lock nut and bolted it on. Just drilled a hold where the broken clip was. Sorry, I don't have a picture available at the moment.

When the end cap completely breaks (which I expected it to do since it's thin and weak), I hope to make one out of aluminum.

Yeah, I am starting to doubt the security of even a hard tonneau at this point.

I just installed an X4TS cover on my 25 Tremor and had to make several adjustments.... after getting it right, it works well. I found that without shimming it, the plastic pieces that lock the top down didn't fit into the tracks, but rode on top of them. After shimming the rails out from the truck bed, they sit within the slots. I also had to adjust one side up slightly higher due to the poor fit of my tailgate, which was slightly higher on one side than the other. It didn't look bad, but when putting on the tonneau cover, it was very evident. Just a small shim in place and all fits well and it latches properly.

I also have concerns about the security, but there is no top cover that is 'secure' It wouldn't take much for anyone to break into almost any cover or canopy with a pry bar. The car itself is easily accessed by someone breaking a window. I think that the X4TS does a very reasonable job of securing the bed of the truck and allows me to put some things on top of it if needed.

I recommend you reach out to the Realtruck support. I think you'll find their customer service is excellent and they'll work with you to ensure you have a good fit.

I had zero problems installing my BAK Revolver X2, no need to shim anything. Carefully installed the rails and make sure they all the way up against the cab. Tightened them down to the bed and installed the cover.

The clamps at the tailgate end snap in with one hand, fits really well.

I was pleasantly surprised at how water resistent the cover is. Not water tight, no cover is, but things stay dry back there even in a pouring rain.

The cover offers as much security as reasonably possible. I wouldn't leave anything valuable back there for any length of time but it does its job.

My wife pulled off one of the end caps trying to open the tonneau ( don't ask). I will have to superglue it back on. Those are the biggest leak spots on my X2.

Shimming the rail connection points is a great idea. My cover fits pretty good overall, but the tolerances are uneven at the side rails even after multiple attempts to fix. I will have to try a few shims and see if that helps.

I want to say the shims helped me size my cover--but once I added them I didn't try again without them.

Those endcaps have been a PITA since this first was released many moons ago - Was going to get one but went with the Truxedo Sentry CT to avoid the "flap/endcap " breaking or falling off.

Cheers

if you contact their tech support and request shims, I am sure they will send them out quickly.
