I’m wondering what covers everyone would recommend (as well as which would you avoid) for someone with no garage parking and is in the full hot Texas sun?

price limit…I’m open to the $1000 range, it wouldn’t mind a few cheaper options as well.

I’m less worried about a little water getting in vs. not deteriorating in the full sun/heat.

I would prefer either hard folding (with a preference of having the ability to fold it up against the rear window to give a lot of bed access) or hard rolling(like the bak revolver or maybe the Sentry CT, though I’m not sure how the velcro will handle the heat), but I am open to soft

I have a Bak MX4 and live right off the Gulf in South Texas. Happy with it. Purchased from Real Truck, make sure to message them for forum pricing. Top is Aluminum with a UV treatment.

Have treated it once with 303, will probably do the cerakote treatment when I get my Hybrid in and am doing all the trim with that at the same time.

I’ve installed the Truxedo Pro X15 on both our trucks. It’s a little more pricey, but has a great warranty.

The main issue is to keep a good UV treatment on them.
I’ve like the look of that one, I like canvas over viny,…and the price (sub $600). The lifetime warranty is nice.

I’m just a little worried about the Velcro getting loose in the heat. I wonder how the Velcro is bonded to the surfaces.

Likely my leading choice right now….unless I go cheaper with the Gator FX or FX3

I have the Ford REV hard roll up version. I also live in central Texas so I have had plenty of toasty heat this summer. The aluminum ribs get plenty hot but not unbearable. Running it through the wash gets a little water in the bed... again, not bad and I was never expecting it to be water tight. It is very secure when it is rolled into place. I like the cover and have had no regrets.

I live in South Central Ky so not as hot as you, but it was pretty hot this summer. I’ve never had any trouble with mine at all.

I have the Gator TriFold FX and I’m more than impressed…paid $230 on sale so I can replace them every year if needed….BUT after 9 months installed I was pleasantly surprised never a leak and have not faded at all, fits tight at 80+ mph….easy to adjust and take off or back on in minutes if hauling something big.

Interesting....but not quite what I am wanting to do. I might do something like that for my old truck though.

I have the same MX4. Also had one on my now deceased Chevy Colorado and liked it enough to get one for my Maverick. If I had an extra grand, I would have been tempted to get the slide back with remote. I don't do daily hauling so the back flip works for me.
