Going to be keeping the rims and replacing the tires on my maverick when it comes here in the next 2 months.. Has anyone found a good size for tires? I’m thinking 235s or 245s but don’t know what the sweet spot is. Any advice or opinions?

I’ve been wondering the same thing everyone says that 245/70/17s will clear with no rubbing with no lift but I think it depends on brand. I think they vary slightly. I’m going to put a 1inch level kit on through rough county and do the bf Goodrich TA which is the ko2 in 245/70/17s. I can follow up in a few weeks once I have the truck. It’s been shipped. Just waiting for a call from the dealer.

245/70/17 definitely depends on tire brand. I had to trim the pinch weld a bit. I think the perfect tire size is 235/70they just don’t have a good selection In that size.

What tires did you decide to go with?

I’m on 245/70/17 falken rubitrek basically wildpeak at3’s. The rubbing on the felt liner is no big deal but I did trim the pinch weld a bit cause it would grab it sometimes.

Well I have the black rims it's 225 65 r17 scorpions switched to 235 65 r17 toyo at 3. They stick out a tint bit. The k02 245 stick out even more. I rather stay with factory spec tires for warranty

"Sweet spot" really depends on what you want to do with the truck.

If you're asking "how big can I go without making modifications" someone will certainly be along to answer.

Bigger isn't always better.

For most driving, the factory size is perfectly adequate. I have 'upgraded' factory 235/65R17 Falken WildPeak tires and they are honestly overkill for 95-98% of the miles I drive. They are also plenty capable for that other 2-5%.

Last time I was tire shopping for new wheels on my daily driver those Falkens were in my top 3 choices. Having them equipped straight from the factory I see zero reason to change them out and believe they are worthy of your consideration if you want a somewhat mild A/T styled tire.

I might get big tires and a lift on my Mav when the factory warranty runs out but I'm not sure I will. I kind of like that the Maverick is a 'little' truck and like the low bed height and easy to be seated position.

Thanks for the in depth reply. I plan on keeping stock until winter rolls around but wanted to plan ahead, once winter comes i’ll change the tires and keep them on year round.

Imo, if you don't need really good snow and mud performance, don't go for an AT tire. And if you do, go with a 235 over a 245. Less weight/better mileage and less sound coming through.

I personally run Toyo AT3s in 245/65R17, but I'm in the mountains often.

The larger you go, the more likely you go from an SL tire to an XL, and your ride will be much stiffer. JAT
