Good evening all!

Many of you have seen my prior post on finding my new Maverick that I'm getting next week. I'll try to be brief here:

Sudden unexpected braking with the hybrid when coming to a stop.

Deep sleep mode.

Would really appreciate any opinions as to these two issues that I've seen multiple times while browsing through this site and how to react and/or deal with them in the most efficient manner.

Mine is a 2023. Should I have any concerns? Anything else I should be mindful of being a first time hybrid vehicle owner?

All comments are welcomed and appreciated!
I don't put a lot of miles on my garage kept Maverick Hybrid, so I've received Deep Sleep Mode messages. It is really not a problem and there always seems to be enough juice to start up when I'm ready to go. One tip - if you want to reduce the chances of getting the Deep Sleep Mode, use your keyfob to double-lock the door by pressing twice each time you lock it (till the horn alerts). The double lock reduces the activity going on when you're away (the various clicks and processes the Maverick does when turned off). My Maverick Hybrid has been a pleasure to own and operate so far - not perfect, but excellent. Happy owner here.

I usually double lock with fob for peace if mind knowing my vehicle is locked. Knowing it might have this added benefit is a nice bonus...thank you so much!

I have a 2023 built in April. No issues to date. No recalls. No warranty repairs.
I did not have to "get used" to the brakes. The brakes work like you would expect breaks to work.

My suggestion is for you to pick up your Maverick next week and enjoy driving it.

Regen braking has saved my sorry old ass a couple times in a year and a half. Some over reaction, know-it-all stuff on here. It’s a good vehicle. I am having fun with it. Like almost every other pick up truck owner, I haul mostly air, but I do it more cheaply than most.

Excellent advice and yes, I've never wanted a long weekend to go faster in my life! Thanks.

My wife already has plans to do a fall basement shed cleanup and dump run. Other than that, I'm mostly with you. It'll be carrying groceries and the odd case of 🍺 most of the time. Lol

I would suggest not using the mode that allows you to sit while stopped with having your foot on the brake. When you start out bit feels like you are driving with the emergency brake on. The truck vibrates and all other modes of weirdness using that mode.
the button is on the console and is the one closest to the passenger seat.
I cannot believe that using that mode will not affect gas mileage due to the harder acceleration needed to take off from a light when activate.
I'm thinking you may need to get yours checked out as something may be wrong with your brake hold. I use brake hold every day and have never noticed any vibrations or needing to press the accelerator more than when it is off. As soon as I press the accelerator my brake instantly releases but I also am on flat land

Gas pedal to the floor at all times until you have to stop.

Then slam on the brakes as hard as you can and hope you don't hit anything.

Works wonders.

Just start driving it and see if you have any of the mentioned issues. Try different modes to see what they offer. The more recent builds have less problems, thanks to this forums information. I have an early build with no problems so far. These are great trucks!

I have had my 23 xlt hybrid for about 400 miles so far. I have had no issues or noticed anything unusual. There is a slight difference in driving a hybrid that you will get used to quickly. Enjoy your new car and that +40 mpg. I am very happy with my truck so far.
