Good evening all!

Many of you have seen my prior post on finding my new Maverick that I'm getting next week. I'll try to be brief here:

Sudden unexpected braking with the hybrid when coming to a stop.

Deep sleep mode.

Would really appreciate any opinions as to these two issues that I've seen multiple times while browsing through this site and how to react and/or deal with them in the most efficient manner.

Mine is a 2023. Should I have any concerns? Anything else I should be mindful of being a first time hybrid vehicle owner?

All comments are welcomed and appreciated!

The regen braking will take a little getting used to. This is normal. In 5 months I've had no issues, like you I was worried at first but I think the problems have been corrected.

My '23 Hybrid has not had a deep sleep message.

I am not completely sure I don't have the braking issue <6mph.
I tend to slow almost to a stop and just, ever so slightly, ease off the brakes - just enough pressure to stop.

9/10 times no issues... but now and again I get what i think is described with the brakes grabbing last second.

I'm used to it now.

May your new Mav be problem free!!

Well, worried isn't exactly the word here...more like getting ahead of the curve a titch in driving the Maverick. Personally I am so pumped about actually GETTING it that...well...you know how I feel. Most everyone here feels the same way. Like a kid in a candy store finally getting what he wants! LOL

Congrats on the new maverick. I'm sure you'll love it.

I got my hybrid in early June and I've had no issues with deep sleep or unexpected braking issues. I was somewhat concerned, like you are, before I got the truck. My last car was a VW Golf, so very different than the maverick. I have about 3,500 miles on it and have had zero issues so far.

I’ve had mine since December of 21 and never had deep sleep in my Mav or myself. I think the grabby brakes is somewhat subjective.

Picked up my 2023 hybrid 6 months ago. So far it has been great. No issues.

I have a 22 and 23 XLT HYBRID. MY 22 had the brake problem after two times at the dealer it's not a 100% but a lot better 👍. It has never had the deep sleep mode. My 23 does not have either problem . My opinion just relax and enjoy a fantastic little truck I bet in time you will love it just like ten of thousands other Maverick owners.👻👍😊

My hybrid was born in June 2023.

I got the deep sleep message for about a week, then it healed it's self-

Haven't seen it since...

The brake surge, shudder, rough change over from Regen to brakes is noticable.

The Maverick brake controller system simply isn't as smooth/refined compared to other hybrid cars I've driven-

Hasn't been an issue for me personally, since I consider it a trade off...

Mavericks have a much lower price, plus it's a TRUCK!!!

I'm approaching a whole month of newbie ownership of my '23, have not seen any deep sleep message (yet), but did take the precaution of purchasing a NOCO jump pack, which now lives in the back underseat storage.

I've had two instances of "grabby" brakes at very low speed, once at the top of my own driveway, just as I was about to fully stop, and another time pulling into someone else's driveway, just as I got into the actual turn at low speed. Nothing since. I'm keeping an eye on that, but since it has yet to repeat, I'm not particularly worried. Both instances were within the first week, btw.

If you drive it daily, you should not encounter the deep sleep mode. Mine sits in the driveway a lot, I'm retired. When it sits for 3-4 days, then it will go into deep sleep mode (I have had my Maverick for 10 months and it only has 2500 miles on it). Ford opened a ticket but I never heard from my dealer. Next month when I take it in for the oll change, they should do the TSB for the deep sleep mode and also the grabby brakes (I may have only had the grabby brakes once or twice?).

On the grabby brakes, could just be me but it seems to act grabby when the engine is on while coming to a complete stop. Very rarely is the engine running when it comes to a complete stop but when it is, it seems grabby to me.

I have a 22 XLT and I work from home. Most weeks the car does not get driven from Sunday afternoons until Friday night. Never had the deep sleep mode.

Brakes were a little grabby. Had the TSB done when I had first oil change and it seemed better but you will adapt.

Entire truck has been trouble free. My brother in California liked mine so much he bought one and I have a 23 Lariat coming this month.

Enjoy your Maverick, they are a tremendous value.

I would suggest not using the mode that allows you to sit while stopped with having your foot on the brake. When you start out bit feels like you are driving with the emergency brake on. The truck vibrates and all other modes of weirdness using that mode.
the button is on the console and is the one closest to the passenger seat.
I cannot believe that using that mode will not affect gas mileage due to the harder acceleration needed to take off from a light when activate.
