+1 to living in Wisconsin and wanting heated seats (heated wheel is surprisingly nice too).

Did I read they're eliminating the remote start button from the key remote? I'm not sure that was even available on the XL, but that is also nice if you're nearby in cold weather vs. pulling up the app.

I *really* wanted the electric locking tailgate and a moonroof was a requirement. I want to be sure the entire truck is locked up (I have a hard tonneau for security because I keep stuff in the bed) when I push the fob button. I also wanted FX4 because I loved the wheels and the other features are nice but not necessary. That was a splurge.

If the moonroof wasn't important to me I'd probably just get an XL though.

22 Xl owner here. No regrets at all. Love my truck. Was able to personalize it with different wheels and everything else I wanted to add. Love the black interior pieces too. Does everything I need it to do as well. Trust me, walking the five feet to the tailgate to manually lock it isn’t that big of a deal. I’ve done multiple trips to Vegas from La and not once did I ever think I needed cruise control. Follow your heart.

2022 XL with almost 45K miles and NO regrets. Have driven my father-in-laws Lariat and not really anything worth the difference in price to me; both hybrids. Now I have a 2024 XL hybrid on order only issue really is BS color choices and no 400W inverter. I'm spending $500 to get HPR but don't really love any of them. Would prefer silver or gray. Only options are 360 and hitch.

Thanks! The 4ktowing was something I didn't think I would need but now we might be getting a small camper and I realized my original truck build could not support it. Not something I ever expected I'd need honestly. Lol
If you decide to get a side by side and need to trailer it the 4k package is also almost mandatory.

The only real option I saw that could have been of value were the power mirrors that you can't get on the XL. Then I remembered my prior truck had them and the only time it was ever of any real use was the 5 or so times over the 20 year period I had it to adjust the passenger mirror. Useful yes but not 3k more useful to trade up a trim level to get them. Cruise control at the time was also a consideration but figured aftermarket would step up with something a lot cheaper than a 3k trim upgrade.

Wanting and needing heated seats are two different things. When I lived in the north even on the coldest days in the teens or lower I never once found the seat too cold sit in any of the trucks or cars I owned.

You're damn right it's a want. Just like I want AC when it's 90 and humid.

Teens is only "chilly" though, not that cold.

** I did find a thread that was very close to this post that answered a bit so thanks in advance for anyone who reads but I will always appreciate ideas of you still want to give them!!**

I've read and understand the differences between an XL versus XLT, but I am curious with there's anyone here who regrets getting an XL? I currently have an XLT on order but after some interesting conversations at home there are some things I wanted to add but since I'm already scheduled I couldn't. So I've been looking at placing a second order but choosing an XL this time because the only things I really need are the 4K towing and the co-pilot. I'm not thrilled about how small the color choice became but the savings per month makes up for it. I think the loss of some other stuff seems worth it. Sure power locking tailgate would be nice but I don't know if I require it. And there's no more secure lock keypad so I'm not really missing that. A back seat drink holder isn't really something that I've ever needed before. I think the only thing that stood out is the XLT gets a perimeter alarm? And then the only other thing is that I would definitely want to change out the rims at some point, but I don't mind the steelies for now. I guess most of my question is about the interior at this point. I used to not like the black seats but they've kind of grown on me with the atlas blue exterior. But is there anything else that seems different or might be missing? Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated. Thank you!
To me is a no brainer: XL has the same specs as the XLT and it costs much less. I don't care about cupholders or wheel covers

I have owned both (see below)
I have to say that the XL is a better deal. I prefer the darker interior seats and panels. The tail gate can be locked manually with a key, and the mirrors you also have to move manually (big deal). The fuel door locks automatically on the xlt (not on XL). You can always put after market wheels on both (don't care much for factory XLT wheels either). I do love the gas mileage of the Hybrid most of all and that was the reason I ordered a few Mavericks to begin with.

I park outside. My old car didn't have it.

To justify new-vehicle money, heated seats were a requirement from the spouse.

So yeah, it was a need. :p

(Also -- the coldest days are like -40 degrees.)

Ordered 2022 Mav XLT rolled into 23 AND 24

Initially, I wanted to get a 22 model, but that wasn't to be. Back then, the only thing I wanted that was not available on the XL, was cruise. Since the XL now has cruise, there was no reason for me to buy the XLT.
The only option I added to the XL was CP360, mostly for power mirrors and a full size spare tire.

The steel wheels will be replaced when I upgrade tires..

Everyone has different things they want on a vehicle. But for me, the XL has more than enough doodads on it to go wrong.
Ordered a XLT in 22, that got rolled into 23 (and Ford didn't prioritize the leftover 22's in 23) and then that order got rolled into 24.
The reason I didn't buy the 22 XL at the time was cruise control.
I still wonder if I had just bit the bullet on cruise control, I might have a truck today.

I ordered 2 on Sept 16 last year. I got one 3 weeks ago. The second is on a train somewhere. Both xl. Couldn’t justify the cost when buying 2 at once. Selling a gas guzzling 06 tundra 4x4. Kid drives one to school. Still getting killed in gas with my 6.2 F250, though. 🤣. I’ll do rims and a hitch on one. Nothing else “needed” for me.

I live in one of the coldest places in the continental United States. I have never felt a need for heated seats and steering wheel. I'm usually wearing fleece lined jeans and warm gloves anyway.

Start the truck*, defrost on. Wait a good 5 minutes. Switch from defrost to heat. Drive and enjoy the heater!

*I did order a plug in engine block heater, have one on my Ranger. It really helps with the start the truck part when temps are double digits below zero, which is literally almost every night here December - February.
