First, don’t always trust that display. I usually find my actual calculated mpg to be a bit higher. I was getting 20-21 for a long while, but more recently I’ve been getting about 25. I didn’t change the way I drive so I don’t really know what the reason is. Maybe it’s just more ”broken in”. I have just under 15K miles on it now.

I'm doing about 22.5 mpg so far, 2.0 L AWD. Mostly stop-and-go city traffic. Expecting much better when I get out on the highway for a bit.

You're getting pretty heavy into boost which on a turbocharged vehicle you may as well just dump fuel out of your gas tank. If you're racing from stop light to stop light that will happen. I do about 90% around town driving and I'm averaging in the high 20s. The one highway trip I've taken I reset the trip gauge and averaged over 34mpg.

What drive mode are you using most of the time? Is all your driving city?

I used to own a 2.0 ecoboost Escape. I would average around 21mpg a tank, and could maybe get it to 23 with a lot of effort. This is the main reason I wanted the Hybrid model. That being said the newer eb models like the Maverick are more efficient. I would recommend:

Use eco mode
It's okay to lose speed going up hills
Drive slower on the highway
Accelerate up to speed gradually
Learn what speed the shift points are. This is easier with models that have paddle shifters like the escape but you should "feel" it as you drive. You'll want to cruise at the low end of whatever your optimal gear is

Now, if you really want to save fuel, the idea is to not use your brakes or throttle at all. That is obviously not possible but you'll want to minimize use of them. Take advantage of hills, and just drive a bit slower.

I am averaging 27mpg in my EB Lariat. I drive about 65% highway. I typically drive 5mph over the posted limit which in my area is 60 (so I'm usually going 65). On the weekends when I'm just toodling around town it drops to no lower than 24mpg. I'm not a lead-foot and I use the Normal driving mode about 90% of the time, (I use Eco if there's light highway traffic, I never use Sport). And regular unleaded gas from the Meyer station down the road.

Hope any of that info is helpful. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a Lariat Lux FX4 and I have averaged 23.4 mixed highway/town. 4,500mi.

I have a set of bed racks installed so they have cut into my mileage a little I’m sure.

13 hours of driving and 199 miles, that's a lot of low speed stop-and-go city driving I take it right? That gas mileage looks about right to me. The ecoboost begs for the beans so if you have a heavy foot like me that's probably part of the problem. If you want to milk as much out as you'd probably want to use Eco mode and drive like your grandma.

I have an EB Lariat. During the winter months in South Dakota, I was averaging 19 mpg with all in town driving. I drive only in ECO mode and drive like a Grandpa (I have 12 grandchildren). Now with Spring here, I hope it goes up to 22 mpg...I have not drove for the past 3 weeks due to a knee surgery so I will be anxious to see if my Maverick will get 22 mpg.

I am at 31 mpg over the last 1000 miles, not sure exactly, but that is close. I drive mostly in 45 to 35 zones with very few stoplights

All new vehicles get better after the first 6ish months. This is normal. How much better? My last vehicle (2018 kia rio) went from about 33mpg to 40. So give it time. If youre still not happy… youll likely have to have a conversation with your right foot unfortunately

Fellow 2.0 EB AWD Lariat here...

I noticed that my first few tanks of gas were definitely pretty disappointing in the mileage department. For a moment I thought I had been conned by Ford as I, too, was getting sub 20MPG.

After about 2,000 miles on the odo and warm weather showing up it seems I'm getting much better mileage.

Breaking in the tires and other components no doubt has helped. I'm sure that the 'newness' wearing off has maybe made me a little less heavy on the throttle, too.

I drove to Breckenridge yesterday (about 200 miles round trip) and I averaged 28.1 MPG at high altitude (5,200-9,600 feet) through some very hilly terrain. Was at about 20mpg going up the hill. Earned another 8.1 going down.

In more city/residential areas I'm getting 23-26. Starting to see high 20's on my highway commutes - even with an occasional need for speed :devilish:
