Since I haven't driven my Maverick in wind chill approaching -40F, I'll reserve judgement.
I probably should have as well. It's a balmy 8 degrees here.

I would suggest re-evaluating when it’s a bit warmer. Everything seems to ride more harshly (for me) when it’s below 0F. More creeks and groans too. It’s -25F withOUT windchill where I happen to be this morning and am well-versed in butt arse cold….

Difference of opinion respected:
I’m happy with the ride on my 24 FX4 Mav, comparatively speaking.

My other truck is a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. When the sun is low in the sky and phone poles cast shadows across the road, I can feel the bumps when I drive over the shadows at 55mph.

Before the 2011 Ram I had a ’99 Dodge 2500 diesel and I could feel the bumps when the new owner I sold it to drove it from 70 miles away.

Before the ’99 Dodge I had a 92 Dodge one ton dually. That truck rode so rough that my mom would call me up from out of state and tell me that every time I dove it she could feel the bumps at her house and it was knocking the pee out of her just like the rodeo horses I was hauling in the gooseneck trailer behind the truck. They were always dehydrated.

I picked my AWD hybrid up last Wednesday, and thought it wasn’t as smooth a ride as the 22 hybrid, but I’m almost sure it’s the tire psi being too high. They’re showing 38-39, and it’s been below freezing every day since I’ve picked it up

Having ridden a buckboard in my younger days, I respectfully disagree.
The ride is a bit harsher in the frozen tundra due to the frost heaves, but nowhere near buckboard.

0K.... So my Maverick has the FX4 suspension package.

The ride, especially in this cold arctic blast , is way too harsh IMHO. And the seat cushions are hard.

My F350 crew cab dually rides better than the Maverick.

I'm a crabby old bastard but I have driven millions of miles in beat up, worn out OTR trucks that have a better ride.

So I'm going to start looking for replacement shocks and springs for the truck. The high pressure rear gas shocks have got to go. Then I will assess the ride and see if a spring change is needed.

I have a source in the dirt track racing world that may be able to make a cudtom rate spring if needed.

This isn't going to happen overnight. I don't have heat in my shop this winter and I just pulled a hamstring muscle last week so my mobility is a bit restricted.

Then theres my 60 hour per week part time driving job...

Stay tuned for more complaining

That's a good one.

Besides, it should ride like a buckboard, but like a maverick!

put your arm in the air, cowboy up, and hang on for the eight seconds!

TIL what a buckboard is. My Bulgarian grandpa used to own something similar and I rode in it many times in the 1990s. It was pulled by a donkey.

I'll take my FX4, even with the rattles. 😁

It's also true...

Started this job as one or two days per week. But poverty makes it hard to say no!

My FX4 definitely rode harsher than usual today in these sub zero temps. It also had a bunch of rattles and noises I never noticed before. Typically it rides firm but is compliant and comfortable, and I’ve never noticed any noises or rattling. I’m just going to attribute the harshness to the temps and crap roads right now. I also may drop my psi back to around 33.

My XL Ecoboost drives and handles very good. I have no complaints! Down here in South Carolina we do not experience the very cold temps like you do, but this week it is going down to 14 with a wind chill around 10. That is very cold for us.

Well, all I can speak for is my own experience and my experience says my 2023 Maverick FX/4 with 4800 miles on the clock is rides like a modern SUV it is based on. The ride is very smooth even on washboard gravel roads.

I have always been very pleased with the ride of my truck. BTW, the coldest I've driven it is -18F.

Hi Jalopy Technology

I really like my 2024 AWD Lariat with the 4K tow, but I also feel as though the ride is fairly harsh ( I posted about this on another thread with info on OEM spring and shock parts numbers).

Anyhow, if you find an alternative rear shock set-up that gives a better ride, please be sure to post about it, I'd be very interested.

Thanks

You should probably take it in to the dealership and have them see what is wrong with it. A buckboard has no springs between the body and the axles. And if your Maverick is riding like that, something must be broken, especially given that everyone else’s maverick rides better than any other pickup on the road.

I only see 3 possible scenarios here: 1) your maverick is broken. 2) you’re trolling. 3) you’re delusional and out of touch with reality. Rather than be cynical, I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that your Maverick must be broken.
