Third Brake Light Replacement

I cracked my third brake light housing and I'm curious is there any difference in ford third brake lights? Most of what i see on the internet for replacing shows it wont fit the maverick but the assembly looks identical on almost all fords.. Can anyone confirm if there is a difference in the lens from an f-150 to a maverick please.

As far as I know the Mavericks share the same assembly as the 150s. That's why it looks oversized. Unless something changed for '25/Lobos.

I remember some aftermarket ones (like the one I bought) come with the "wrong" plug but shaving down the alignment extrusion on one side solves that.

I just need the lens, not interested in an aftermarket light or replacing the whole assembly. I can find f150 oem replacements for under 50 and for some reason the only ones i find for the maverick oem or oem looking are north of 100 dollars. Just curious what makes our cost so much more or what the difference is if any.

Isn't the lens sonic-welded to the housing? Even if you could source the lens only, it will be much easier to swap full assemblies.

The Maverick uses the same part (and part number) as base model halogen 2015-2020 F150, 2017-2022 F250.

Might find one on a wreck in a salvage yard, that's many years to choose from. At least on the F-150's. Super Duty's much fewer I'm sure.

I love the idea of the strobe for the 3rd brake light only, but I wonder if it’s legal in all states. It only flashes three times and then is constant. Enough strobing to get the attention of drivers behind you and not be distracting. Makes perfect sense but some state laws do not allow red or blue strobing of any kind so as not to confuse your vehicle with law enforcement.

I'll sell you my oem one I took off my 2025 lariat if you want. I replaced it with a morimoto 3rd brake light.

My third brake light flashes three times then stays on.
I installed it hoping to attract attention to when I'm stopping.

IME, this is one of those things that A) no police officer will ever pull you over for alone, B) a real jerk of an officer who stopped you for another reason will "enrich" your ticket with a citation for the flashing brake light, and/or C) if you have a mandatory safety inspection, you might fail it on account of the flasher.

I didn't care about any of those things, because I'm far more concerned about being rear-ended. And after 20 years of experience installing aftermarket brake flashers on my motorcycles, swapping bulbs for LED flashers was a no-brainer for me.

P.S. Plenty of states have stupid laws that are almost never enforced alone. For example, Maryland makes it illegal to wear earplugs while motorcycling. I break that law every time because I refuse to ride without earplugs because protecting my hearing matters infinitely more to me than my wallet, not to mention the law is nonsensical since you actually hear BETTER at speed with plugs in. Of course, MD cops would never be able to pull you over for wearing earplugs for obvious reasons, but they could slap you with an added fine if they ever did pull you over for something else.

Same difference with flashing brake lights.
