I agree with this 100%. I see a lot of misleading screenshots of "one off" trips or people claiming 50mpg on the regular. In reality a normal driver will get between 30-40 mpg on the regular basis.

We also have the people that pussyfoot it in the 30 MPH range everywhere just to keep the truck in electric. I could see this as an option if you are out in the middle of nowhere, but if you are in the city or on a busy street, you are an a-hole

My '22 XLT Hybrid rated at 37 combined mpg. After 15,XXX miles, including several long highway trips, Woodstock is still topping 43 mpg. I've stated it repeatedly on here, I do not baby the truck at all. Just drive it like any other vehicle I've ever owned. The '06 Prius I owned right before the Maverick was averaging 46 mpg, which is amazingly close when cosidering the aerodynamic and weight discrepancies of the two vehicles.

I drive 90% Texas highways at 82 mph. Was averaging 32/32 mpg. When it got super hot, my mileage dipped to 28/29. Just yesterday/today with it being cooler I got 33/34 on a 250 mile r/t.

Based solely on on-board estimate, we're at 51.0 total in the first 8500 miles. That's about half my wife's all highway commute and half me puttering around town. Wife doesn't care at all about efficiency, while I'm one of the "a-holes" who drives the speed limit and coasts to stop lights. A significant amount of those miles are driving back-and-forth to the in-laws house weekly. It's ~30 miles each way on rolling hill rural roads at 40-45mph; easy 55mpg there (slightly uphill) and 80+ back. Just isn't important enough for us to actually track it manually, but I do know we have gotten multiple 700+ mile tanks. If you don't believe me, my feelings are really hurt that a random stranger thinks I'm lying for message board cred.

It's all driving behavior. I could totally see someone with a lead foot barely averaging 30 in mixed driving in this thing.

I somewhat agree with you. I have a 22 Hybrid XLT. I have averaged about 36MPG over the 22K+ miles that I've driven it. Longer highway trips are closer to 33MPG (I drive between 75-80 MPH with ECO Mode on and cruise set) and my daily commutes put me closer to 38MPG most of the time. Obviously colder months with morning warmups drop that number to 34-36. So unless you are hyper-miling 100% of the time or your drive is downhill both ways, you're not averaging 45-50MPG in any real world scenario. I could see maybe if you live in a very hilly area and can feather the pedal once up to speed, you might be getting 43ish but come on. I get 999MPG if I back it up in the driveway a few feet and shut it off hahaha Doesn't mean that's my average.

Agree. I see 36-37 on the display. XL hybrid delivered in 2022 with factory louve correction, grabby brake reprogram, 35 psi stock steelies, mix city and occasional 150 mile hwy trips at 75 mph, 6500miles, toggle to eco after couple turns usually. So not 42, not 32. Satisfactory performace overall in my experience.

My dash mileage is about 5% too optimistic when compared to manually calculated mileage. But using the dashboard reading seems to be quite useful when comparing different routes, speeds or weather conditions. Of course, that assumes that the 5% difference is a constant instead of varying between 0% and 10% in accordance with the prevalence of sunspot activity, relative humidity or ozone levels.

Of course, but I KNOW that I got 600 miles on a tank and when I filled it was pretty easy to calculate…

I'm in Virginia and use my Mav as a courier vehicle. I drive about 50/50 city/hwy, ac on high, radio and DRLs on with 2 people (400+lbs) and have an avg mpg of 41.1. I used the "engineering test mode" to rescale the reading ( it lowered it about 1.2 mpg) On several long trips I usually average about 45 mpg driving between 65/70 most of the time on cruise control. Happy camper here.
