How do you know this? Please provide a link if possible.
https://www.fuelly.com/

It's a website/app that allows you to track your real world mileage with mileage driven and gallons filled. Even if you fill more or less each tank, it'll still be accurate over the long run.

A lot of people use it and you'll find a good place for accurate mpg figures on lots of different cars.

Hello: I've seen several posts stating my Maverick Hybrid got 45 MPG, 57 MPG and more. They back them up with pictures of their dash. The only way to have your REAL MPG is by filling up your tank and filling it up again, and doing the math with your total mileage. Anyone can post a picture of their dash for a short trip and have it show 40, 50, and more MPG. I can drive around my neighborhood, never going over 30 MPH, trying my best to stay on electric power and show a bogus dash picture. I've owned hybrids for 15 years. I can post a picture of my PriusV, going down hill and it says my MPG is 99 MPG. If you want to give an honest MPG value, give us a gas tank refill, do the math with your total miles driven and then state what kind of MPG you are getting. Don't go posting a 30 or 60 mile trip and post a picture. I just don't want some people thinking their hybrids are living up to standards.
Truckman since we live in the same city, I'll show you how I get my MPG... My overall MPG is in m SIG, but we aren't at 120 degrees, I"m easily getting 60 MPG on my commute to work (17 miles one way)

I somewhat agree with you. I have a 22 Hybrid XLT. I have averaged about 36MPG over the 22K+ miles that I've driven it. Longer highway trips are closer to 33MPG (I drive between 75-80 MPH with ECO Mode on and cruise set) and my daily commutes put me closer to 38MPG most of the time. Obviously colder months with morning warmups drop that number to 34-36. So unless you are hyper-miling 100% of the time or your drive is downhill both ways, you're not averaging 45-50MPG in any real world scenario. I could see maybe if you live in a very hilly area and can feather the pedal once up to speed, you might be getting 43ish but come on. I get 999MPG if I back it up in the driveway a few feet and shut it off hahaha Doesn't mean that's my average.

You miss the point. Highway travel at 80 MPH will drop your mileage below 33 MPG. Light Stop and go at 35 MPH will push your average to 57 MPG. The overall average is 42 MPG. People like me post the 57 MPG because it's fun to do so - not to mislead. For the short driving conditions I think it's accurate but it's not really the long term average. You can fill it up and do the math for the next 6 months and track in a spreadsheet if you wish, but, you will probably calculate 42MPG Average. I have done this time and again. Over thousands of miles on my regular driving routes, I get 42 MPG. - Just what the window sticker says. I sometimes see 57 I sometimes see 33 ( in the winter driving over 80 )

My Maverick hybrid is not doing nearly as good. 90% of my driving is highway driving to and from work:

Hand calculated on 4 tanks averaging about 40.5mpg while dash indicator shows 42. Mainly secondary roads where I live going 58-63mph. I am nothing but satisfied with this thing. I don't have a lead foot but I don't baby it either. I drive in Normal mode. Eco mode is a waste of time and has not given me any measurable results on MPG increase. I wouldn't trade this for 2 Toyota Prii (although they are good cars I will say).

My first fill-up was yesterday, 70hwy/30 City driving. This is also not knowing how much the dealer filled it up before taking ownership and a little learning curve of how the hybrid systems work. The next fill will be more accurate but 41mpg is pretty nice

Hey Gary-

I forgot which trim you have?

Did you catch my post where I discovered there's not really a "lifetime" MPG number in the on board system? This is the case in my XLT.

The data is FIFO - first in, first out. Once the data buffer is full, oldest data is constantly being overwritten.

Without documentation, I'm estimating the MPG moving average is at least the past 128 hours of driving, and at most, 166 hours of driving.
GPSMan, what is the data buffer full of? Individual trips from vehicle start to turnoff? If so, it would be great to download these trips.

Don’t you think Ford should do a better job of documenting these “features.”?

What is the Excel-lile image above from? Fuely?
Is 70h/30c your estimate or was this displayed on the dashboard?
