I headed out for a 40 minute drive to the country and was about 15 minutes into the drive when the truck went stupid. I was in S sport mode brake hold on, in cruise at 70mph when the center screen showed that the accident avoidance was as off, so to the cruise control, the abs and engine control module. The result was a loss of some power but it continued to hold at 70 with my right foot input. I continued for 20 minutes and at my exit, I pulled over and shut down. I waited a few minutes before restarting and the same warning screens returned. I finished the trip. Parked and spent an hour before heading a few blocks and saw the same stupid stuff again. After an hour and a half we drove back to our second stop where the truck sat for five hours. When we left and headed home all was well. Ford Pass recorded the disturbance in the force. I’m going to call the dealership and report it but the “wrench “ light to suggest service now is off. I think I have heard others complain of limp mode issues and wonder how they resolved it.

I had something similar yesterday In my hybrid. i got 2 miles from my house and all of a sudden I couldn’t accelerate past 35 mph. Wrench and engine lights came on as well as the slippery/skid light. Advanced trac, service required and several functions off warnings flashed on the screen. I pulled over, shut down, waited and started again. My truck took off when I took my foot off the brake and accelerated to 35 mph by itself. Pretty freaked out I stomped the brakes, turned around and drove home at 35 mph without my foot on the gas pedal. I plan on having it towed this morning and pray it won’t be one of those month long repairs 🙏🏻

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Did you recently have recalls done to your Hybrid?

The issue came back yesterday (Tues) and again today as I drove to my appointment to the dealer. They had it most of the day, they tracked the issue to a wire that was being rubbed on or was rubbing against something and they ordered parts and I should have it back tomorrow. I will update all with more exact info and photo, when I pick it up tomorrow.

The dealer told me that similar issues have occurred with the 12 volt battery in ecoboosts.

So the final diagnosis for my problem was that a zip tie for the front right wheel speed sensor wiring was not installed and the wire made contact with the wheel and wore through the insulation. They ordered a new sensor wiring harness pigtail and it is fine now.

Took the wheel off and what do you know...Built Ford Rough construction.

The wheel speed sensor harness has insulation from the engine bay to about 3-4" inches from the plastic clip to the sensor. The rest is "protected" by felt tape. 🤦‍♂️

I will be asking my dealer to replace both the front harnesses so that I don't have to pay for it later.
