Is it safe for me to say that the only people who are SUPER frustrated are those who aren't getting monthly courtesy updates from their dealers?
I can handle the delays I think, as long as communication isn't lost from my salesman/dealer.

My salesman knows nothing. I called customer service and got my VIN and production date. Then, I called the dealer to let him know I had a VIN for the past 4 months. He told me I didn't have one yet to his knowledge. This whole process has been a fustercluck.

If you could turn back the clock, what would you have said to, or asked, that salesman to ensure he knew what the hell he was doing?
I can guess what you want to say to him today!

Decided end of May 2022 I wanted a Lariat EB Lux, 360, FX4, with all weather floor mats and no carpeted mats and didn’t care about color except no white or silver. Called all the dealers within 250 miles of me to see who had one coming in that a customer cancelled. Got lucky. A dealer 180 miles from me had a carbonized gray EB Lariat lux 360 fx4 with all weather floor mats and no carpet mats that would be in end of June. Literally a perfect fit.

Put down a $500 fully refundable deposit on it. It was delivered 6/25 and I drove and picked it up on 6/28. I waited one month for my perfect truck. Paid only $2k over MSRP. That was the lowest ADM I heard of by far (most were between 5-10k). So it was just sheer luck I called this dealer, the original person cancelled, no one else had put a deposit in it, it was the perfect spec I wanted, and I only waited a month for only $2k ADM on a dealer stock unit.

IT WAS MEANT TO BE!

Walked into a dealer to look at it none in stock will get one to look at in a few days. Went to another dealer you can order them pay 500 bucks it's refundable hand you the paperwork says not refundable and no one told you it was. Very scummy. Called previous coworkers asked if.his dad still works for ford 3rd dealer called had one bought it came in 1 day later with a cheque paid in full done no mark up

This is going to long and not over yet so warned.

Started by asking around word of mouth about a half dozen dealers. Reached out by emails to two dealers about getting a Maverick. One just got an XL eco boost to test drive but was sold before could go there a week later. Then they asked me to come in anyways to look at my trade in.

Went with the second dealer had a better reputation and was a lot further away but had 2 eco boost. One XLT and Xl. The XLT was gone when was ready to test drive and test drove the XL. Like it a lot and talked to the salesman, which someone recommended and he asked another salesman to show me the multiple positions of the tailgate when told him wanted to order the bed extender and tonneau cover. My Salesman strongly advised against getting the tonneau cover because it would cause delays and could get one cheaper later. Did not order either (but very recently purchased from accessories.ford.com with the ACC20 20% code of and had it shipped to a New Hampshire dealer that was closer and no sales tax. My dealer's part department does not use them and was not available to chose).

A month later, mid-late Nov, got all concerned about the ROVP after listening to @fordvideoguy, this forum and Johnny Car Care and Reviews as did sign something and gave my license for a copy but not given a copy, DORA? So the sales manager sent me a text msg from his personal phone of a screen shot of the ROVP query showing my order number approved status as he was out of the office that day.

A month later after joining this forum and learning about x-plans applied for an x-plan pin. Discovered at the time not only qualified because of the stock that I owned but being a disabled veteran and belonging to the DAV. Called December 1st and asked if they accepted the x-plan and they said yes. All excited asked to give him my pin number but concern and disappointed that he did not want it and said could give it to him when the truck arrived. Same with my trade in and try Carvana, which I did.

July 11th called the customer support number and was shocked to be given a VIN, Build week and ETA since was a later October order with a Lux package. Called the dealership to tell them about my VIN and they said come in to talk when asked about the x-plan pin. He said that I did not order with the x-plan, which was true, and would have to talk with him and the owner. So before getting there had decided was most important to me and fair. So told him that knew they could not sell a lot of vehicles and was willing to give up the $700 x-plan savings if he would do the $100 doc fee, price and financing protection and match carvana/carmax price or more for my trade-in.

Gave him a list that got from this forum long ago of the invoice and MRSP prices in the beginning. Marked my options and crossed out the moon roof and use the percentage discount of the $795 to get the invoice of the $995 price. So had the invoice - 0.4% plus $275 admin fee x-plan price and mrsp price and x-planpin numbers on the sheet. Also a snapshot from @fordvideoguy video of the protected price and incentives.. He agreed and took a copy of those two pages and not the carmax and carvana quotes of my trade, which again said will do when the truck comes in.

Happy so far, if it all plays out, especially when asking why I was scheduled ahead of others with simpler builds. He told me they received the most allocation for the region..
There are no straight paths anymore. It seems like everything is a trial. We just have to make sure that trial is worth it. I'm probably going (barring a frigging miracle) to converting over to a FY '23 but I'm going to be pretty happy when it gets here. Over the months (10 of them) I've considered alternatives but the Maverick checked most of the boxes. And, if I jump ship now I've wasted this time.

So my personal experience is a little nerve racking since I am tying to trade in my 2019 ranger while the market is up but for keeps delaying my build. I get a build date then boom it is moved. Pretty annoying. Overall not too bad. However there communication is total trash. I had to call to see why I went back to order processing. Also they should have there supply chain sorted out, I just feel like they need to find better suppliers or something. Its been a while. But then again all brands are having this supply issue I do love the maverick and cannot wait till it gets here for that reason I am sticking to my order and waiting LOL

Everyone is frustrated. I'm a sales person and it's equally frustrating . Who new the world would change as we knew it. Parts are back ordered, etc. etc. I waited a year for my Maverick. It's worth the wait.
I'd get angry with my dealer but I know that they're in the middle so I stay pleasant. Why is it I know as much as them? Ford has to get their act together.

I appreciate your sane approach! I too intend to be as understanding as possible, but is the salesman really in the middle when he has a sales manager and possibly a zone manager to refer to? Is every link in the Ford chain of communication broken?
Has anyone here had a similar situation while waiting for an ordered vehicle from GM, etc?

For the lack of knowledge and insight my dealer (salesman/manager) blames his Ford rep that visits once a month. Not good enough. They need to ask the important questions and make them responsible. If they're afraid of Ford HQ being a high volume dealership with more clout would help. The reward for sitting on your ass is not good. For all of us.

I heard that GM is better with wait times but I also did hear that there are a lot of issues on the new ones (since they are using lower quality parts because that is all they can get) ... but take that with a grain of salt since it is all hearsay

I ordered my AWB XLT on Dec 20, 2021. Dealer had no info, suggested I go online to view and build, but added nothing to sticker and asked only a $200 deposit, which was refunded after we settled. Delivery was June 20, about the 6 months we expected it would take. Lux pkg had gone from spray in bedliner to drop in by that time, and price was adjusted accordingly. I saw the usual projections which were pushed back, the rig was built April 26, 2022 and it spent a surprising time in Illinois en route from Hermosillo to Pierre, SD.

I know better than to order a new model in first year of production, but it was just what I wanted, price was right, and used vehicle prices were crazy. My dealer, which changed ownership in the interim, was honest and learning the new process along the way just as I was. I like the vehicle and feel fortunate to have it. Ford is trying new things and I think it will pay off for them, but it has been nerve racking for the company, dealers and consumers.

Ordering was easy at msrp, who would have thought that the dealer would not be glad about that without a down payment. He said he could sell it easily if I didn't take it when it came in about May.
Got my confirmation and a followup message from Ford all was good then find out from this forum that it is. Just smoke up my bottom.
Ordered it in 2021 a base hybrid with few options that I now know had no constraints.
Found out from this forum that the dealer didn't put the order in correctly because he didn't want to get my signature so no my22 for me in vb. I sent them Tim's instructions about. How to properly put in the order...crikets.
who really thought getting an order for anything would mean that the customer is the problem in the transaction and had to research to be an expert to acquire a vehical.
Dealer has a lariat for $45k sitting on the lot fanning the flames.
Yes, Ford and its dealer are making this experience a nightmare in buying this great 1st year Maverick. I hope both do a better job in transparency my23...I know I've learned...customer beware.
I'm happy for those who have a Maverick. Thanks for sharing. It is a good truck and this forum is a good outlet for venting and learnig....keep on!
