Does anyone know what the little socket the tail light pin clips into is called? My passenger tail light will not stay pinned/clicked into that socket and I’m going to replace those (if I can find them) and see if my lamp will stay in place. I replaced my bulbs and that one does not stay clicked into place properly. It clicks into place, but after driving it’s popped out every time. I’ve attached a screen grab from a YouTube video to illustrate the piece I need.

Seems there where numerous threads about tail light not staying seated in the past, recall dealers replacing those there may be a part number in those threads

I have taken my lights out a few times, mostly for the bedliner and lasfits. I think I now have a formidable gap around my tail lights that let's air and rain thru. Anyone else have a poor seal?

That’s what I’m addressing with this. It vibrates back loose after I snap it in and bolt it up. Just bad fasteners it seems.

No, it's just not seated properly. I did this at first as well. Reseat it. Wiggle it in place and you will see. It seems like it goes in properly at first but takes a little extra nudge. If it's not lined up properly it won't fully seat.

Mine is fully clicked in, I checked it from the back with a bore scope when I reseated it again last night. Got to work this morning and it already vibrated back loose. The retainers don’t stay compressed.

I had the same issue and I wiggled it fully in place then tightened the bolts and hasn't happened since. Loosen your bolts, make sure it's fully seated all the way back then tighten. I noticed the second time I did it there was that little extra needed.

Pics to confirm if it's fully seated (exterior) would help. If not, then it could possibly be a clip issue. Just telling you what I noticed and it seems common on this forum.

Oh they were fully seated and flush. I completely removed the tail light again yesterday, seated it and measured the gap on both driver and passenger side. They matched. Then checked it with the borescope from the back side. They were in all the way. I’ve reseated them multiple times and it still comes loose.

To add to this, some parts are not made to be reused, just replaced. The clip might be that

The retainers were $2.25 for a set of 4. And I don’t have to leave my truck all day at the dealer (because even with an appointment they won’t have it ready until 3:30-4:00 with an early morning appointment). Not to mention after my recent oil change they left the undercarriage splash guard loose (they only put 1 screw in the back in the center) and I had to replace the screws (which were $8 for a set of 15) instead of wait all day on them to do it. I don’t mind buying cheap items and not having to wait on the dealership to do things.

Without pics we just have to take your word for it then. Good luck!
