Sorry, this happened to you and the truck! I hope you are not in too much pain tomorrow as the next day is usually the worst. I am impressed at how well the side of the truck seems to have held up (from the picture). When you look at the front end of the car that hit you it must have been flying.

My 91 Mustang did not hold up this well. When I was t-boned the door frame bent up a good 10" into a point and the door crushed in about 12" pinning me in and I had to be cut out with the jaws of life. There were no side airbags back then, so I fractured a few bones.

I hope you have good insurance and there is a new truck in your very near future!

One of those cases that pays to have "non-insured motorists" insurance coverage on your own insurance. So often those types of brake jobs are DIY or an amateur mechanic.

That just covers bodily injury not vehicle damage, at least in my state.
Thankfully OP was not injured.

If the vehicle was reasonably new, the black box might tell if there was a brake application. I'm not well versed on when those recorders appeared or what they record. But it's the first thing the insurance company pulls from the wreck.

They record enough that when my friend blew up his Z06 Vette motor at Watkins Glen and had it towed to the dealership, the service advisor called him and said "Uhhhh the computer says you were doing 150mph when the motor blew up ... ?"

It also covers you and your family if injured as a pedestrian when struck by an uninsured motorist or hit-and-run driver. It protects you by making sure money is available to pay for your losses that were caused by someone else. The minimum amount of coverage required by law is $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury only.

You may want to purchase more than the minimum coverage required by law if you feel the need for more protection. Uninsured motorist coverage does not cover property damage to your vehicle and does not protect the other driver. Your insurer may sue the other driver for any money the insurer pays you because of the other driver's negligence.

What is underinsured motorists coverage?
