It's 2023 people. Protect yourself. You can get something as cheap as $30 and plug it into the "cigarette" port. Anything is better than nothing.

Thank god that it was super safe nothing happened to me or my friend in the passenger seat. I only got a little bit burnt in my arm.

Dang! So sorry. Hopefully no injuries. I got t-boned in July over the gas tank. Hit & run - tons of witnesses but no...don't get involved they said.... Thankfully insurance paid & with a few more dollars out of my pocket she's like new in just under a week - we did not have to wait on parts. There are some sorry xxs people in this world for sure & karma works in mysterious ways. Buy a decent dash cam. If it's not reliable and good quality recording there is no use spending anything on unreliable poor quality.

The guy at the shop (a Ford dealer) said he didn't want it sitting around for many weeks so I think he jacked up the estimate. I don't know. unfortunately it would require a road test, that's the problem - fixing it up to get it moving and then finding out what internals are flawed - I can see why the ins co wants to total it - if they pour money into getting it road worthy then find it's also the trans and/or engine. then they'd have to pay for the partial repair + replacement and they're not going to chance that
