I saw a video on youtube yesterday that older Mavericks can be upgraded to Sync 4. It was a short video that just changed out the hardware. I do wonder how it will interact with the current modules in the truck. The kit was $1200. Not only will you get a bigger display but you will also add wireless carplay.

They're basically selling you the 12" Transit screen, APIM, etc that people here are retrofitting on their own. You still may need to do a bunch of FORScan configuration on your own to get it functioning properly even though it's supposedly pre-programmed.

I have to wonder if the issue over backup cameras can be resolved if Ford would just upgrade those trucks to Sync 3. But they don't want to spend any money. I bet there is a difference in RAM and processor speed that the older displays don't have which may be causing the issue. I think they may be trying to optimize the code to make up for the lack of speed in the displays that aren't sync 3 or 4. I would think there would have to be some changes to the settings in the modules to get it to recognize sync 4. Maybe ForScan can do it

I'd take that thousand dollars, plus the $750 incentive Ford is offering right now, and buy a 2025. You're talking better everything and a restarted warranty with what is essentially a $2,000 discount before you walk in the door.

didn't they raise the prices on the 2025s by $3000? There are some improvements but I am not a fan of putting all the HVAC controls on the information screen. I prefer physical buttons. I am wondering how many hoops one would have to jump through to get sync 4 to work on a 2022-24 Maverick

Oh I tried to buy a 2025. The two dealers I went to were impossible to deal with. They were acting like the days of the pandemic. I got so sick and tired of their shennigans that I just walked our. Found a used Tremor with 2500 miles on it.

Lariats aren't in the recall since they have sync 3, I would bet upgrading to sync 3 or 4 will solve the problem which suggests to me that the whole issue is the display on XLT and XL isn't fast enough to handle the data stream from the camera. That is just my guess. Probably doesn't have enough RAM or processing power or both. Ford wants to get off the cheapest way possible by trying to optimize the code and not replace hardware.

One would think a $165 million fine in Nov should have been a wake-up call

I didn't know they were fined. I guess $165 Million is a drop in the bucket to them. I read yesterday that Tesla has a recall on backup cameras now. Videos take a lot of processing power. All these Mavericks sitting on dealer lots that they can't deliver have to be costing them too. I haven't had any issues with mine but I have a Lariat

Agree , peanuts in the big picture but that could have put a dent on Connect to Sync.
yes a lot of components.
If we can do it they sure as H@$” could do it cheaper
