Since my Mav spends a lot of time in the airports long term lot, I decided to start it this morning from the app to charge the battery. Last month I got a deep sleep message and although it started right up, I was hoping to avoid it this month.
So I started it with the app knowing it will automatically shut down after 15 minutes. Now, about 13 hours later I open the app and it says it’s running! What? Do I trust the app? I hit the stop button and it says it turned it off. Anyone else run into this? According to the fuel range it went from 176 to empty to 153 till
empty so I have to assume it was in fact running all day, or at least alternating between running and electric..yikes!
Using up 23 miles would mean it used approximately a half gallon of gas. So I doubt it ran 13 hours, would have used a lot more gas. But obviously running 15 min would be a lot less than half gallon, scratching my head here...

Yeah, the app says it will automatically shut down in >15 minutes and it can be extended to 30 minutes. I didn’t extend it and made an assumption that 15 minutes was the total time on. If was 15 minutes of ICE running then yeah, it could feasibly be “on” all day. Was plenty warm in Texas since I left. Ill play with it when I get home..
It is also possible that the app hadn't refreshed itself. I have had that happen before too. I checked later, and FordPass hadn't refreshed. It still indicated that the truck was running, but it wasn't.

Inquiring minds want to know when you will be home to check on it? 😉

Yikes is right!

Yeah, I think the hybrid will just cycle on-off and not trip the 15min. shutoff relay.

Should have just let it deep sleep until you got back.
I have 2 ford hybrids and neither one works like that for remote start. Both will shut off at the 15 minute mark every time.

So, asume it is alternating between gas and hybrid for a long period, are you really charging your battery as you intend to?

Makes sense Waterick, thanks. More concerned about hurting something on the Mav, I only have about 1700 miles on it and if it was idling all day that can’t be good for it. I have to assume the ICE kicked in to charge the battery sporadically during the day if at all.
I sincerely doubt it kept running, but even if it did it would shut off and on and won't hurt anything.
I would be very curious what's up with it, but not worry much.

I was doing some work and testing in mine for about 2 hours. Hot day, so I had the AC on for those 2 hours. I can’t say how exactly how badly it affected my miles to empty, but it was bad!

I've got the EcoBeast but my app is wonky. Sometimes the truck will start, sometimes it fails to. A few times it said it was running when clearly is was not.

Right now it is better than nothing, but going to go into next winter with the plug and play OBD starter. Besides, I am going to lose the Ford app anyhoo when it requires the next update and too cheap to upgrade my phone.

You didn't read all the posts.
Hybrids can use half a gallon in 13 hours of "run" time on the clock which may be 60 or fewer total minutes of engine spinning time.

I think it is unlikely it did this.
But it is technically possible.

Mine has said failed to start but then I look outside and it's running. If you hold the start button again will it shut down? Haven't tried that scenario.

Mine has shown failed to start once in a while and I just try again then it claims it started and 15 minute timer starts.

It has always been running when I go to get in.
