A question for the stereo gurus- could you use home two wire lamp cord/ext cord wire for something like this? It tends to be copper not plated aluminum.

what a strange question... but anyway...

extension cords or anything else rated for 120VAC tends to be at least 18 AWG and might be as big as 10 AWG for something rated to carry 50A.

there is still no good reason to use it as either a positive battery terminal connection for an amplifier, or as speaker wire. the insulation is thick and you need more than 18 AWG for the power wire. then on the speaker wire side, it's ugly and you would have to strip the insulation and separate the positive and ground. it's so much easier and better to use the right cables.
