I like that Idea. I never use AM, FM, or satellite. I was thinking about getting a Stubby but I hear it does/might mess up your AM radio reception, if you do ever need it in some sort of emergency. Just taking it off and putting it in the bottom of the glove box for that rainy day you might need AM reception again is a great idea that does not cost money :)
I don't like that idea, because when there is nothing in that antenna socket, rain/mud/dirt/birdcrap are going to get in there, and whether it will leak into the cab eventually or not, it may make screwing the antenna in a real pain or even impossible someday.

If I were going to roll with nothing in that socket, I'd put a cheap plastic cap or something in that hole to keep contamination out and protect the threads.

I thought about that and started looking into ways to plug/protect those threads for the day I would need to remount the FoMoCo antennae. It seems like the best way would have to get a M8 x 10mm stainless steel bolt (that they don't sell just one), some dielectric grease, and an o-ring (that they also don't sell just one). Then, there is still no guarantee that the stainless would not corrode/combine with the brass. I just bought a $20 Cravenspeed Stubby Jr from Amazon and I'll keep the FoMoCo antennae in the truck somewhere for when I may someday need it hehe

Mine was also delivered without an antenna but it was no where to be found in the truck.
I would ask the dealership where my antenna went off to...

A rubber cap would be ideal if you aren't going to have an antenna.

Agree, and you are barking up the right tree. But I think when the antenna is off it is a threaded hole, not a cappable nub. Would need to be an insert, almost like a plastic trim clip.

I got one of these, no issues that I can tell and fits great, but I don't listen to radio often.

By the time I noticed it, it was a few weeks after purchase. It was easier to just order a stubby. It would have cost me $20 in gas to get there and back. That's what a stubby cost.

On Amazon US, they have been $20 since I bought mine in June. If you are paying $4 you should start a business reselling them. 😆
Yeah! I got it directly from China via Aliexpress, I skeep Amazon fees
Actually it's $3.54usd right now

I realize that like many things, length matters.
So...I'm trying to find either a quality stubby antenna or longer one that can bend/pivot so I can put materials on my lumber rack without hitting it....again :~(
Anyone have a recommendation on a proven product?
Thanks, brian
I got a 2” stubby when a gust of wind threw my unsecured bed cover up onto the roof and broke my OEM 6” antenna. Works great until you get to the city limits and reception drops off quickly. I mostly listen to canned music on a flash drive so doesn’t bother me.

Bought me a stubby off Amazon as well and have recognize a drop in reception right away. Tried to return it but instead they just refunded me the money and was able to keep it. Locally it is fine but I keep the longer one in the glove department for any road trips.
