Well, that explains it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really miss the autobahn. Hitlers Idea ya know. To move military trucks and tanks quickly.

Most don’t know it is the reason we got Interstates up and running so fast.

Your interstates have a minimum of 1 mile per 10 that's mandated to be straight if I remember correctly - to allow for aircraft use.

Welcome to Physics.
My favorite quote about physics comes from...wait for it...Bugs Bunny (and I paraphrase):

"This defies the laws of physics. Unfortunately, I never studied law."

And Bugs's inertia corollary (not paraphrased):

"It's amazing how hard these cartoon trees really are."

Never heard of or considered that before. How did you discover this information? 🤔
Regarding pressure - big difference in the cycling world over the past many years.
120-130 PSI in narrow 19-23 mm tires was thought to be best for rolling resistance.
In a velodrome perhaps totally smooth surface.
Now from studies, 80-95 in 28-32 tires have been found to be best on actual road surfaces riders use.

But for vehicle tires - appears not only the road, but how driven and where.

Conclusion
In this paper, some experimental tests performed to investigate the tire power losses and to examine the influence of both road gradient and tire inflation pressure on tire power losses in real-world conditions. Experiments were done in two routes of the same length but having different gradients: positive and negative. Study of power losses in drive and driven wheels performed separately and it is seen that tire power losses in driven wheels increase as a result of tire pressure reduction,
