This is not a prediction of any kind - I don't have a clue. It's just me wondering out loud. I'd love to see an answer from somebody who's a fleet manager or works in that business.

To me, the Maverick seems to scream "fleet sales". And we've seen postings here of obvious fleet purchases. I'm wondering how long the typical fleet will keep their Mavericks before dumping them on the used market? I think fleets tend to sell vehicles in one or two years, or at a set mileage?

I'm wondering if eventually (obviously not any time soon) huge fleet sales will drive used Maverick prices into the gutter. You can see this with other fleet vehicles. They generally have poor resale values because fleets flood the used market. That's in a normal market of course, not the pandemic market.

Obviously, this isn't happening anytime soon, if ever. But two or three years down the road? Will Maverick resale values inevitably take a nosedive because of fleet sales?

Fleet sales are normally base (XL) trim with zero options and are normally driven until their wheels fall off, I doubt they will make the value "nosedive" at all.

A long time and very successful fleet sales manager near my location sold about 20 this year and sees many MY23 orders coming in August.

@fordvideoguy has 50 hybrids from a business this MY at priority 11. The other 531 retail orders from individual customers started as 10's.

Long McArthur anticipates 400+ orders on 8-15.

The resale value of any vehicle depends on the milage, installed options, body and mechanical condition and more.

Fleets are used in a variety of ways. I live in a very large private community. The maintenance guys probably use the trucks very little on highways—trips to Home Depot/Lowes, going for lunch, and getting gas. Speed limit in the community is 25 mph , roads are smooth, and only a few stop signs in the whole village. The staff has mostly Chevys and they are all old, anywhere from 15-20 years-old.

In a related question, I'm also wondering if the Maverick will be adopted on a large scale by car rental companies. It seems like a perfect rental car.

I wonder if U-Haul May ask Ford to make a version with no back seat and some kind of protector between back seat area and front seat. Some people may only be moving a small amount of items, not a whole home. Maybe Hone Depot and Lowes as well.

I don’t think Mavericks will ever be built in high enough volumes for fleet sales to affect the market
Plus as stated above, most fleets are low option plain Jane vehicles

I could see Home Depot or Lowes having an XL, no frills for their own delivery or for something like a half-day rental for a low fee with a purchase from the store. They could easily modify the back seat as they wanted if they decided that was necessary. They could keep the fee low and have a per-mile charge for gas usage.
