I'm still getting notice for the 22S47 Engine Fire recall, which I never had done. Clearly this wasn't a fix and did not remedy anything.

I've since had my Engine replaced at 40k due to the long block CSP for premature engine failure. Obviously there's absolutely no need for this previous engine fire recall to rip out grill shutters and cut holes in the undershield.

Anyway to remove this or will this follow my truck indefinitely?

🤷‍♂️ Maybe the dealer that replaced the engine can contact or send ford something to remove it from you vin #. I would assume it will follow the truck indefinitely until ford removes it from your vin #. But I guess technically in fords perspective it hasn't been corrected since the shield and shutters have not be modified so they won't remove it. I agree with your stance but some lawyers down the road might not 🤷‍♂️

Any combustion engine can leak flammable materials, not just the old one. It was never supposed to fix the improperly machined crankshaft in your old engine.

The recall will follow the vehicle until complete, as federally required. If you ever sell the truck and it ends up on a dealer's lot, they will get the recall done so that they can sell it.

From Ford's website:

"As long as you remain listed as the current owner in state registration and title records, you will continue to receive these notices.

Ford Motor Company is required by Federal Regulation to mail recall letters to the last known registered owner."

Seems like dealer that did the engine replacement could get it off the books - because that will look bad for resale.

The recall to prevent major effects from a potentially problem engine has already been taken care of as you said - because you did have the problem engine and got the solution of a new engine.

The known potential problem on an unknown set of engines no longer applies.

The recall has nothing to do with the engine. It all has to do with the design of the engine compartment and a possibility of fire because if the engine block is compromised oil and fumes can becomed trapped within the engine bay and that creates a fire hazard. They should have removed part of the active grille shutter and cut some holes in the engine "diaper" to allow oil and fumes to escape. That's all that recall involves. It's an old recall (a lot of the 2022 models were on a no-sell hold because of this) and I'm surprised the dealer didn't perform the recall at the same time as the engine replacement.

Do some rereading of these recalls that were all related to the exact same thing.
1st recall was to mitigate potential effects for the then unknown root cause issue.
2nd recall was to discover engines with the root cause issue just before they had the effects.

Absolutely because of the engine.
The potential problem engine in a subset of unknown trucks.
