Love it or hate it, at least Sport mode makes a noticeable difference.
To me it does seem to keep the 2.0 eco in it's noisiest/ shakiest mode, kind of annoying for around town driving. But keeps the turbo spooled up so it does its job.
Love the fact it defeats the Auto start/stop.
I work from home so mine might sit for a week. I've killed a battery in a previous car this way so I keep a Battery Tender handy.
So I'll throw it in Sport mode just to keep the revs up and try to charge the battery faster for short trips.
The 8 speed tranny seems to do a good job of being in the right gear or kicking down when needed in Normal mode to me.
Yes, it would be nice if you could pick & choose, say the shift points of Normal mode with the throttle response of Sport mode.

I would be curious to see the MPG difference between Normal w/Auto StartStop disabled & Sport in a controlled city test.

For what the truck is it's quick when I agree I have a BMW M5, which has 850 RWHP, and my 987 has a renegade hybrid LS-3 conversion. but I love driving my Maverick.

Oh geez. I need to see that LS-3 conversion. I had seen the kit for that. Believe I had seen one where someone had also put in a Ford 5.0 Coyote.

There is a company in Vegas Renegade HYbrids, Scott has been doing these conversions for about 20 years. The LS3 is lighter than the Porsche engine, making 170 more HP in stock form. Here is video on a Boxster.

How did it handle after the conversion? That was the one thing I really loved about my Cayman. I was just really disappointed in the quality; specifically that my headliner suffered from the deteriorating foam issue and the soft touch paint they used on all the plastics was completely scratched up. Only reason I really sold it was that I got tired of having a separate car and truck (old 93 Silverado). The Maverick coming out finally met my one vehicle requirements (though I still have a couple of motorcycles for my speed high).

Better, now you can push the car harder, with no dynamic changes at all. They do a Cayman conversion too, which we all know handles better than a 911, now add 430hp it is faster, than a 911 turbo and handles better too. I love the 928, it needs more power, Renegade does a conversion for that model when I had my Boxster done, and Scott just finished an LS7 swap in one, WOW, the car is amazing, uber comfortable, and effortless power.

I have three motorcycles 2002 Ducait 998 Strada with some help by Fast By Ferracci, I have 2 Suzukis RGV250 and RG500 (really 570) more toys.

I'm jealous of that Porsche conversion. Sounds like fun.

I have a 23 Hybrid. I've used sport mode several times when I'm at a stop light and want to make sure I get in front of the cars beside me, for my next turn. With the hybrid, sport mode mostly uses the engine and not the electric motor. I've also used it on some twistys in the Texas Hill Country. Other than those occasions, I'm always in the normal mode.

I rarely use Sport mode (maybe a half dozen times in 16 months?).... Used it Saturday with 5 adults (including me) in the Maverick with the A/C on Max. Put it Sport, put the pedal down, and the impressive acceleration put a smile on everyone's face for about 15 seconds until I let off and put it back in Eco. Decent bit of power from that otherwise economical 4cyl powerplant.

I have had my Mav for 5 months and 5k miles. I accidentally put it in sport mode for about six blocks and two stop lights. My wife was panicking and kept saying: What is wrong with the truck??" I took me a bit to figure out what was "wrong". Just saw the initial red on my display and thought the engine had a mind of its own. :) Other than a one time, on purpose, for a 0 to 70 test, it has not been used. No plans or need for future use. Whatever floats your boat........
I'm with you, I have owned my hybrid Maverick over 3 years now, and never tried it in sport mode. I went hybrid to get great mileage, not to hot rod my truck!

My 2025 Lariat AWD Hybrid definitely responds in Sport Mode - my biggest concern is having to replace the tires more often than running in the normal mode since its so tempting to smoke the tires when lined up next to a Tesla or New Corvette at a traffic light my intention wasn’t to purchase a drag truck - I guess I need to purchase one of those “Bad Ass Edition” emblems instead of my “Retirement Edition” badges lol

So I have had my 2.0L ecoboost AWD Maverick for almost 6 months now and in that time I've kept it in normal mode. Just for kicks recently I put it into Sport mode. Ugghh. To me it is very much unusable to the point I am wondering if something is wrong with either the programming or the transmission. I know that modes are electronic and not mechanical and the computer is just changing shift points and the timing of such. Sport mode on the Maverick as on other manufacturers that use it, holds the revs longer, and higher it seems. On my Maverick, the problem is is that it seems to hold high revs TOO long or when it shouldn't. Yesterday in Sport mode it was doing like 2500 RPMs at 40 mph. Seems a bit high to me since our Mavericks are high geared and are doing under 1800 RPM's at 60 mph in Normal mode. When I come up to a stoplight/stop sign in Sport mode, it holds the RPM's way too high when to me it should be lowering them since I am coming up to a stop. It's like someone in a manual that downshifts into 1st gear when coming up to a stop before they should and the engine is revving in too high an RPM. Just doesn't seem like it is behaving right or is this how Sport mode is supposed to behave in people that have used it regularly in thier Mavericks? If so, it is terrible IMO.
Don't think I'll ever try it myself. To me the Maverick is all about utility. When I want sport I'll ride the motorcycle or the Miata where I'M the sport mode shifting. I wish my Mav would latch and stay in eco mode.

I haven't had my Mav hybrid very long and drive in Normal or Eco mode, but I always tell people, you should try some features of your vehicle at least once and then you know how it will react, and you know that you have it available the circumstances come up where you need that feature.
With that said, I tried the Sport mode on my hybrid and it took off!
So if I ever have a circumstance where I need to get out of the way quickly, Sport mode will do it! Lol!

I least try it once to put a smile on your face.... don't look at the momentary mileage drop and spoil the fun... Don't be grumpy cat...

In the try it once idea, my wife had an 86 Volvo turbo and I told her she should try hitting the gas hard to know what kind of power she had in reserve if needed.
Once day I came home she told me she put her foot down to test and was very happy with the results, I could see by the big smile on her face.
