So I just got my Maverick xlt 2025 hybrid. Love the truck, hate the sound system. I want to replace the factory speakers and add a small 50 watt per channel amp. My problem is I can't figure out where the factory head is so I can hook the input and output wires from the amp to the factory wiring plugs. Any ideas anyone?

They are on the pre-'25s. I can't say for sure if the '25s are different, but I haven't heard anything about an external amp for the non-B&O so I'd say the speaker wiring is almost certainly behind the head unit. It would have to be if the speakers are using an amp built into the head unit.

2022-2024, the wiring harness was actually below, under the hvac control panels. I'm not 100% on the 2025 yet, since they changed the screen and hvac controls.

This T harness should make your life easier for wiring

So how exactly does this work. I have only ever added a sub to a aftermarket radio keeping factory wiring to speakers and replaced speakers. I would like better audio. It looks like on last pic on the link I could do an amp and dsp and keep factory wires and nt have to do any rewiring. Could I keep factory speakers and how would I do the sub at this point if I was planning on just tapping in the wire for a rear speaker.

Thanks Aaron. I'll be getting all of the equipment from Crutchfield. They are the best! I've been using them for many years. And thanks for the pictures! They recommended the T harness also. I have everything in my cart. They don't yet have the master sheet for the 2025. I'll wait a few more weeks and if they still don't have it I'll have them send me the 2024 master and hope for the best. Thanks again!

The T harness retains your factory wiring, and gives you high level outputs as if you tapped into the wiring yourself. With the Maverick, you do not want to tap into the rear speakers for sub output. They have a frequency cutoff and will not give you full range signal. You'd want to use the fronts for that.

I swear by Crutchfield. No matter what car you have, they have the harness! AND you can call a REAL person and get help!

Any recommendations on how to handle that? I have seen lots of videos connecting into the rear with an amp for the rear sub.

The only issue with the factory wiring is you would want to run new speaker wire to the tweeters if you buy a component set with a passive cross over. Mount the crossover in the dash, or up in the kick panels somewhere, connect the factory front wires to the door speakers, then run new speaker wires to the tweeters. If you are going full active, you will have to run wires from the amp to the tweeters.
