My Hybrid XLT spare tire does not have a wheel lock. Should I have received one as standard, or was it an add on ? Thank You.

Ford just confirmed this is supposed to be there and is indeed missing from my Maverick.
Be sure to check yours to make sure its there.

I have an XLT Hybrid with “full size” spare. It does NOT have the lock. I wonder if it was only standard on Eco Boost or small “donut“ spare? Photo of my spare.My Hybrid XLT spare tire does not have a wheel lock. Should I have received one as standard, or was it an add on ? Thank You.

Thank You Olele ! This is really helpful. Your rig looks identical to mine. Maybe because we have the "full size" spare there is no wheel lock.I have an XLT Hybrid with “full size” spare. It does NOT have the lock. I wonder if it was only standard on small “donut“ spare? Photo of my spare.

Hopefully others will chime in with what they have. I’m taking mine in on Tuesday for the recall ”fix” and I will ask them about the lock. Thanks for your original post.

The owner of an XLT Lux Hybrid posted in a Facebook Maverick group. His has the lock nut assembly. Although my central spring mechanism has a bolt type head. Maybe a change in manufacturing (earlier/later). I will definitely talk to the dealership.
Pulling down those spares is already a huge pain in the @ss, Fine by me if there is no annoying lock on it to make it even harder.
If you notice, yours has two cables. It replaces the need for the second cable the youtube people have. I'm fairly certain it's a safety cable in case one breaks.My Hybrid XLT spare tire does not have a wheel lock. Should I have received one as standard, or was it an add on ? Thank You.
Nothing more annoying than a spare tire bouncing down the highway.

Thank you for these ref pics. My 2023 hybrid Lariat spare didn’t match YouTube videos. And I noticed that the spring mechanism at the end on mine was longer and curved like the other owners above. I thought it was so stalled incorrectly or someone had to change the tire before it was sold to me.
