The engine battery? That is ridiculous. Hybrid only or is it that way on the EB also?
..
Why is it ridiculous? It is not the engine battery, whatever that is. It is a 12v agm battery that starts the computers. Besides, there is no room in the engine bay for it. The hybrid system takes up alot of space, relatively speaking.

I thought it was strange also, but like it better than the last two fusions we had, where it was crammed so far back under the hood it was a b!tch to change.

I just don’t understand putting something that routinely needs to be accessed and might catch fire in the passenger compartment. As an engineer, I would endeavor to fit it under the hood unless it was in no way possible.

They've been putting batteries in odd places for years. A lot of cars have them in the trunk.

beats locations that you cannot reach without taking other parts off or the fender like wrangler.
For routine access, that looks like the easiest place possible.

One of the things I am planning on doing is a steel version of the 2x8 in the bedside slots. I will weld up a 3/4" thin wall tube rectangle attached to 2" at the sides so it fits the slot, and weld in expanded steel mesh in the center. This way its light and strong. I have been building this over and over in my head. Will either paint it gloss black, or powdercoat black.

I like the cubby in the bed. I have an XLT and a hard tonneau, so the cubby is useful. Without the security of a hard, locking tonneau it seems like it would be pretty much useless. I wish the bottom section was a touch deeper so it would fit a quart of oil.

The XLT comes with only one cubby on the passenger side so I ordered another one for the driver's side; about $45 from Ford. You then need a couple of black M6 x 20mm flange-head bolts for the two additional attachment holes the cubby has vs. the cover blank.

The bed cubby is perfect for all my tiedowns and ratchet straps.

I would love to shrink the wheel hump in the in the bed and get more useable space.
