Hi Everyone! Longtime lurker first time poster. My CG hybrid XLT LUX won't be built til 2022 so I have time. Just wondering who got their truck with the soft roll up cover? I think the order sheet had it for like $600. Pros and cons? I dont plan on keeping anything valuable in the bed.

I ordered the soft. I don't have any experience with one however.

I will be going with the TruXedo TruXport. Can usually get it for under $300.

C'mon... there are a LOT OF CURRENT and experienced TRUCK owners on here that have had histories with the Soft Tonneau covers... I too am curious as I have never owned a truck. I realize that common sense applies here (can easily be cut to access and theft actions)... what are the Pros and Cons?

I don't have my Maverick yet so can't speak to the one for it...

But I had a 96 Ranger in college that I bought a soft top for. It was nice for the cover to always be there but not be limited to what I could haul at a moments notice. Rolled nicely up against the cab which allowed the whole bed to be usable. The only thing was the one I had had 3 support rails for the soft top that you had to remove but they fit nicely behind the seats or just in the bed if I wasn't worried about them getting damaged. If I end up getting a cover for my bed then it'll probably be a soft cover.

I will not be getting one on my build but will add one after. Personally I am not a fan of the soft covers, if someone wants what's in your truck they can get in easy. The soft is good to help keep stuff dry on a short trip, but I have seen them cut open just to see what's hidden under them. my plan after a lot of research is a hard trifold.

And how much of the back window is obscured by the trifold when folded up?

Pros for the soft top. Easy to roll up and have access to entire bed without removing

cons easily cut and allows thefts
Overtime Velcro doesn’t hold as well and cover flaps on drives causing wind noise

I’ve had both and at times wished i had the other depending what i was doing. Last 2 trucks just went with large tool box in bed. Plan on doing same with Maverick once after market produces them. Tool boxes are lockable and also easy to remove if you need entire bed. Does cause scuffing on rails but i take that trade off

Checked my sales doc, 560 For the soft trifold tonneau. Starting to second guess myself and just cough up the extra 500 for a nicer cover.

I installed a soft tonneau cover, roll-up on my 2018 F150. Worked great, never had any problems with anyone trying to get into bed of truck. I recently moved 900 miles, had the back of the bed loaded with stuff, under the tonneau cover, never had a problem. Had my wife's car trailered behind and the backseat filled with stuff. Spent couple of nights at hotels, no problems.
