Wow that's not good about the wind buffering on the freeway but glad it worked out for you in the end. I'll have to take a look at the TruXedo Truxport you recommended.
Nothing against the Gator soft roll up's, just commenting on what I have. I do wonder about soft tri-folds on general, since if the material stretches due to wind or general stretching over time, there is no way to tighten it (vs a hard roll up that will never stretch). With a soft roll-up you can pull it tight and snug it down with the velcro.

I don't have mine yet, or my truck, but I recently ordered the Gator Soft Trifold.

  • It's $239 right now, cheaper than most soft rolling and by far cheaper than any hard.
  • Gets good reviews on this forum.
  • Installation does not include clamped rails along the length of the bed. The first panel at the cab is clamped to the rails, and that's it except for the clamp near the tailgate when you close it. People seem to report it takes just a couple of minutes to remove and it's lightweight. So if you don't want it on you can take it off quickly and there's nothing remaining on the truck like most other covers. (I think) I plan to put it on when I need it and leave it off when I don't, without having permanent rails on the bed.
  • I'm not too concerned about theft where I usually am, nor am I too concerned about it being perfectly water tight, which are two negatives on the forum reviews. Although I'm not sure people say it leaks more than any other cover out there
  • Stiffness with the frame for some snow load. Hopefully it won't be overly flappy on the highway like some report

I’ve had that exact Gator on my truck since new in November of 2021. No Problems, easy to remove and replace.
I will buy it again. If need be.

Do you have the Tri Fold Soft or the roll up version? No issues with it being noisy on the freeway?

Looking for opinions on the Real Truck Tri Fold Soft Folding Tonneau vs the Real Truck soft roll up tonneau cover. Currently on sale it looks like the price difference is only $20 between the two. I've never had a tonneau cover before so looking for input on the Tri Fold vs soft roll up models. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money and would pretty much only use it occasionally. I believe the Tri Fold would take up more space when folded up vs the soft roll up but not sure if that would be an issue for me or not. Please chime in on the pros and cons of these two or just a Tri Fold vs roll up cover in general.

I have had every cover over the years owning pick-ups I can tell you the roll-ups are a pain if you open often you have to go around and seal the sides by hand, the tri-folds are better BUT don't seal as well and flop around when driving, I had the FORD tri-fold on my 22 FX4 it held up well about 400 on sale, BUT got dirty and hard to clean the dirt out of all textured material they used. I spent hours on Amazon searching for a cover for my new 25 Lariat, there are SO many reasonably priced hard covers out there in the 400/500 range I got tired of looking and just picked one paid 464 I think I got a good one 20/30 min install 400lb weight limit not that you're going to stand on it, very easy to clean and so far 90/95% water tight its called the CALFFREE cfht037 got it overnight installed in no time next day, am 73 was simple job. Its been 3 weeks we had lots of rain no leaks except a little water running down the back of the tail gate very minor, I also sealed the 2 seams where the top trim on top side rails join and 2 in the back by the cab, theres a video on Utube by one of the guys that works for Real truck did on his Maverick
a $4 tube of black seam sealer neatly fill those seams, NO water in the bed, I also went through the car wash and dry as a bone. good luck with your search, Hard cover is the only way to go you don't have to spend 1100/1200 bucks.

I have the tri fold soft. BTW. Had same model on my Sierra for 3 years with no problems and that is why I got this one for my Maverick.
