Ok, I get it, this is a cheap vehicle, not a Lexus, so don't expect a smooth door-closing experience. On the other hand, I feel there is something we can do to improve the door-closing experience. One thing I feel is that the door can add some sound damping and weight. I am not sure what the 2nd part should be, perhaps lube the latching mechanism so it can lock on more efficiently. thoughts?

Real happy with my "closing experience" ;)
Nice solid thunk on all doors with my 23 Lariat.

My XL is fine too. Nice solid sound when I close the doors.

I remember a few years ago I was looking at an outlander sport and it sounded like you were closing a tin can. It was so cheap and thin sounding and so much road noise that it was unbearable. Salesman told me I could turn up the radio and I wouldn't hear the noise!🤣 Just didn't feel safe in it.

I agree. Our XLT doors all close with a subtle, solid sound. No issues whatsoever. I was actually surprised.

having installed sound deadener in a previously owned suv, I'll agree that adding it to the maverick will give you the illusion of a higher quality vehicle. start there and see how you fell about it. lubing the latch wont do anything to improve the door closing experience imo.

My expectation was met, don't take me wrong. But still, why some cars (mainly Toyota and Honda-made) can give you that smooth effortless door closer but for American-made cars you just have to slam it? Some cars like the German ones do need more force to close the doors, but then because the doors are so heavy, it does give you that satisfactory thump when closing. I'm just saying. It's never a show-stopper. But once you own a car or two that has the smooth closing experience, you kinda get used to it. And then you will notice the difference. Another example is that Macbooks are all tuned so that you can always open and shut the screen with one hand. The hinge is very smooth and well-calibrated. Most other laptops out there can't do it. So you will have to use one hand to hold down the bottom while using the other hand to open the lid. It's not a show-stopper. But once you get used to the one-hand motion of open and close, it's very noticeable when you switch to other laptops...

Out of all the things I have and will possibly upgrade in this vehicle, my door closing experience will not be one of them. 😜

Me: '22 Lariat EB, 8,700 miles. Doors and closing sound are just fine. I drive my wife's Lexus once in awhile and don't feel slighted by my Mav.
