Soft Topper Thoughts

Hey All! New here. I just got my Mav as a bit of a gas saver so I am not putting miles on my cattle truck (aka gas hog)
I am thinking about getting a soft topper as my pets go everywhere with me. They love riding to the feed store and such. What are your thoughts on a soft topper? Would it be sufficient for my dogs to ride in? I have 5 dogs and they are not ankle-biter size, it gets cramped up front.

from what ive seen they are water proof and fairly rigged if installed tight.
