The time has come.

I'm going to begin with a few photos of where my "new" truck is today, then I'll tell the story.

This will also serve as my ongoing build thread as I continue to modify and drive my Maverick.

You may or may not have seen my other build, a Cactus Gray '23 Hybrid here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ets-lower-it-w-eibach-lowering-springs.25531/

Sadly, it ended abruptly May 19th when a lady in an oncoming lane turned left in front of me. She was cited, my truck was totalled.

Insert countless swear words here.

I sustained injuries to my ribs and lower back. Still getting treatment, still sore.

A great friend mentioned he was going to be trading his 1400 mile '23 Hybrid in on a new Bronco. I paid him what the dealership offered, flew to Florida and headed home to Utah.

Less than an hour into the trip I was rear ended. Yeah, seriously. Nicest gentleman you could ever hope to meet, but my NEW Maverick with less than 1500 miles took a hit.

The bumper was creased and scuffed, and smacked the bottom of the tailgate leaving scratches in the paint.

Insert more swear words.

The Highway Patrol came, filled out an accident report and I headed west again. The remainder of the 1800+ mile trip was largely uneventful, but man did I see some beautiful country!

I moved a few things from my totalled XL to this new Lariat like my @Realtruck F4X tonneau cover, the Bed Rug cargo mat, rear seat cover and a few other things. I had the windows tinted too.

But the BIG thing I was waiting for was the Silvers coilovers. I ordered shortly after I got this truck home and excitedly awaited delivery.

Color coordination is important. 😁

I tore right in and I can't begin to tell you what a QUALITY product Silvers makes! Wow! Excellent design and fabrication throughout!

If you've never done suspension work before I can imagine this could be a bit of a daunting task. There are no instructions but it's pretty self explanatory. Even with all of the suspension work I've done I got stuck on a silly thing and Silvers support was more than happy to help.

Y'all are going to ask the same question so let me answer it now - it rides nice. Firm, but nice. Not harsh, not hard, not bouncy, firm like a performance car which is exactly what a reputable coilover company SHOULD feel like. It actually rides similar to my HEMI Challenger with Super Track Pack.

It's a tradeoff that you may not be willing to make. My Eibachs on my Cactis Gray truck rode EXCELLENT, just like stock. They just weren't low enough for my liking and a compromise I was willing to make.

The ride quality is due largely to the work that Lawrence Giles put in with Silvers to nail down the correct spring rates! If you're considering Silvers ask for the "Lawrence Giles" @2016BoostedGreyGoose package. They'll know!

Also, this ISN'T the "low" package, it's the "standard" package. It's plenty low enough for me, although I need to start trimming my inner fender plastics because they rub.

I'm also going to go from my current 235/55R19's to 235/50R19's to minimize rubbing where I can. I may also go to 20's or 22's if I can find wheels I like more than the Escape wheels I had powder coated bronze. We'll see.

I still need to dial in the suspension a bit, maybe adjust ride height a touch, adjust dampening, etc. Once I'm happy with that I'll get the alignment done.

Here are a few photos of it lowered with the stock Lariat wheels.

Really glad I was able to save my Escape wheels from the Cactus Gray Maverick and that they weren't damaged. Really LOVING the bronze against the Hot Pepper Red.

Upcoming plans include moving some of my aftermarket stereo over and adapting it to the B&O, painting bumpers and side skirts Hot Pepper Red, adding fog lights and painting the grill bar.

More to come. 😊

Nice work Eric! Sorry for your loss on the other Maverick (I remember the posting). Then you get smacked in the rear on the new one. Remind me not to ride with you, "Accident Magnet"....Lol, JK.
I'm glad you are ok and still recovering well. Keep up the good work, your truck looks awesome

If you don't mind my asking? Did insurance pay MSRP or cover the price of marked up Mavericks?
They paid off my XL and paid me enough to get a fully loaded Lariat. They know EXACTLY how difficult these are to replace.

Thanks JP4AZ. Having driven for 36 years I've never been in an accident that was my fault, and of those I've only been lightly bumped from behind maybe 2 or 3 times not causing any damage. I guess it was time, LOL.

Looks great. The Bronze wheels look awesome against the HPR body.

love to hear that - had a rear impact with a busted up camry a few weeks ago - straight into the hitch but not an iota of damage - was hoping for an insurace-provided upgrade to Lariat

daddio211, sorry about your first Maverick but glad to see you was able to acquire another one pretty quickly. I was never a big fan of the HPR, even when I had mine, but with lowering and the bronze wheels, this might just very well be THE COLOR to have. The truck looks so good lowered even further! Very nice job! I don't let the haters bother me, lower everything I say. My wife makes fun of me all the time because she likes lifted stuff so I lifted her Bronco. If it had been mine I would have lowered it too.

Would YOU take a Supra or a Corvette, or a Mustang off roading? We each buy things in this world that speak to us and with it a vision. Maybe you vision is tearing off roads or ground pounding potholes but it's not the same for everyone. If you don't like my comparisons or they are hard to comprehend, consider these... I know no one that has ever take a Ram SRT-10, GMC Cyclone/Typhoon off roading and regretted not doing so. These are street trucks, meant specifically for the streets. Feel free to share your Overlander Maverick. Nothing wrong with either, however being narrow minded is.
No, it's fine. I like the internet videos of lowered vehicles scraping in driveways, curbs, mechanics showing the oil pans ripped off. It is very entertaining.

@Delzona & @daddio211 how much better does the fuel MPG get when you lower the maverick?
The gains will be small, but still measurable. As I remember, 5-10% seemed to be the norm. Of course there's no measurable difference city driving.

I will say that I didn't notice any gains in my previous lowered Maverick, although I did go to a significantly wider tire.

Isn't it funny how the "experts" think ripping holes in oil pans and ripping off bumpers is commonplace?

"I saw it in YouTube so it applies to everything!" (YouTube, CNN, Fox, etc.)

Funny that they fail to understand that my Maverick is the same distance from the ground as their beloved bone stock Honda Civic. 🤷🏽‍♂️
