Shouldn't be a problem in spare location as long as wheel AND TIRE 😇 diameter is under 29 1/16" with hitch or 29 5/16" without hitch.😁. of course a 22" wheel will fit without its tire or even with its airless band tire!

So just to clarify. Having a wider tire isn't so much a problem at the pinch weld? And a front lift doesn’t help with the pinch weld contact ? It’s the increased tire diameter that is the only culprit to the pinch weld rubbing?

Not Crazy. When my current 225/60/18's wear out, I'll be looking to go with 235/65/18's to keep skinny, but gain height/lose wheel well gap.

The vast majority of 235/65/18 are much heavier 6+lbs than stock 225/60/18. The 225/60/18 primacy 24lbs was introduced in that size, I believe for 2022's. To get a decent selection 17" wheels are better, might even get 215's for a 17" wheel.

Wow this looks like option for 215's on 17".(I did not check it's rim width req.).

In my case, the Toyo Observe gsi-6 225/60/18 are 31# each. Going up to a 235/65/18 in the same tire is 34#, a 3# difference. Not much of a difference. But improved ride and looks for a slight MPG penalty is a tradeoff I can live with.

On the plus side several brands are releasing their new tires and are coming up with options in 225 & 235 sizes with lower rolling resistance compounds, tried, etc. Michelin defender 2's look pretty good. They did not come up on my search though. Maybe our options will improve soon.

Great great thread. If I can only find an 225/70R17 (yet to be successful), I would do it in a heartbeat. 225/75R17 - me waiting for a braver soul to try it out and report back.
Hello everyone! I can attest that the 225/75r17 Hankook Dynapro AT2’s do indeed fit my FX4 without a front lift without any pinch weld manipulation. Your welcome!

The highest profile I could fit under the stock, no lift 23 hybrid was the Yokohama Geolandar H/T G056 at 225/75 R17.

They clear the aftermarket mud flaps by 8 to 9 mm.

more pics from different angles please?
what was the hit to MPG? (easiest way to tell is to find out how much of a hit you took to miles per tank)

After I got them home from Discount Tire, I hit them with some inexpensive tire cleaner / shiny stuff from the discount rack at O'Reilly's.

The next day I washed the tires off, then wiped them down with 303.

If you live in the desert and want to maintain some shine to your tires, this combination is a good option. I have to say that these Yokohama tires take a shine even better than Michelins.
