Shifter knob gets stuck periodically

2022 2.0- in last 2 months I've experienced a shifter knob that gets stuck in all gear positions. I can rotate back and forth to select a gear, but that isn't how it's supposed to work. It's at dealer now, but " they can't get it to screw up" . Maverick is still under warranty, so at least the problem is documented. Anyone know what I can tell them to check?

I don't understand how it is stuck and you can rotate back and forth.
I further don't understand that you can rotate it back and forth but that isn't how it's supposed to work. You do rotate back and forth to select a gear. What am I missing?

Usually if it's stuck, that means you don't have your foot on the brake and it locks you from selecting a gear as a result. That's part of the neutral safety switch. I've never heard of one stuck no matter what. And if it's at the dealership, that means you drove it there, right? Or did you have it towed? If you did, in fact, drive it, that means it couldn't have been all that screwed up, right?

I wasn't descriptive enough. For instance, I attempt to go into reverse in driveway but it won't go right, so I spin it left, then right, and repeat till it goes into reverse. Pull out of driveway then it doesn't want to go into drive. I repeat above process and it eventually goes into drive. This happens periodically. And, yes, my foot is buried on the brake. It's an inconvenience at the moment and dealer couldn't recreate the problem. It's under warranty, but I get to pay for no problem found. NICE

So dial actually spins.

But the dial indicator doesn't go into a gear until the fiddling around?

Or it does, but it's evident from gas pedal it's not really in that gear, so fiddling around?

And what is the dashboard PRND showing during these moments?

Are you perhaps doing a brake and gas pedal press at same time as some do to test if in gear?

No, it's not in gear if the indicator isn't in D or R. I assumed that dealer would troubleshoot the brake switch, linkage, and computer, but they drove it around getting to get it to malfunction. It is periodical, like I said. It didn't malfunction for them and charged me for the techs time under warranty. Asked if I could record the instances, but they apparently have to witness it before Ford will cover it. I've bought several new cars there and have been a loyal customer. There are other Ford dealers in the area. When it gets bad enough, I'll take my warranty work to another dealer and let Ford pay them and then pursue a refund for today.

This has happened to me a few times too.
Place foot on brake pedal, start truck, go to shift into reverse but I can't get the shifter to move. Each time it has happened, I've had to turn the truck off, remove the key and restart the truck to clear the issue.
