As in electric radiator fan speed.
Mine is always showing zero.
How about yours?

1. Could be the coding changed for Maverick compared to earlier vehicles and ScanGauge is unaware of the change

2. Could be this feature was not implemented in Maverick by Ford

3. Could be there is an error just with mine

This is one example where crowd sourcing information sharing can help.

If everyone's Maverick shows zero, we can then try to find if this feature exists in the Maverick. If we find it does, we tell ScanGauge company, and they are happy to send out an update via WiFi.

HV Battery Coolant Temperature always reads 20°F higher than actual on a ScanGaugeIII with the current firmware. I will inquire with the company about a possible firmware upgrade to correct for this.

12/1/2023 UPDATE:
Fixed with Firmware v. 1.231 and above.

Examples:

Overnight cold soak at 47°F
Engine coolant = 47
Transmission = 47
Motor Coil = 47
HV Battery Coolant = 67

Overnight cold soak at 64°F
Engine coolant = 64
Transmission = 64
Motor Coil = 64
HV Battery Coolant = 84

Warm Soak in hot parking lot at 95°F
Engine coolant = 95
Transmission = 95
Motor Coil = 95
HV Battery Coolant = 115

Consistent results over many months.
There is a software error or a sensor error. But at least one other owner has seen the same anomaly, so I'm leaning towards software error.

Update:

The manufacturer has updated the firmware and the battery coolant display is now within reasonable tolerances.

Today with v1.231

Before "starting" the engine:

I left a message with them that my transmission temp reads 1700 deg when I start the vehicle during temps below 32deg.

That's helpful. 👍🏻

The truck transmits raw data in hexadecimal and software/programmer needs to do the conversion to units us humans understand.

There's few Mavericks out there and a small subset of owners use a ScanGauge and even fewer probably submit feedback. So Thank You for helping make the system better.

I highly recommend the Scan Gauge. Now as I enter the first winter, and still looking for high MPG, I use it to see the coolant temp and if the engine is running. Just an FYI, but in cold weather you will make the engine run just to get heat if the heat is turned on. If the scan gauge indicates relatively cold coolant, and you know you will soon be climbing a hill, you can shut the heat off, run on the battery until you hit the hill which then the truck will start the engine to pull the hill anyway. At that point turn on the heat.

I have had a Scangauge II on the steering column on my 2008 Saturn Vue for longer than I can remember. I love the information it adds to a very basic console. the 2008 did not have the access to the computer like the 2009 had - no tire pressure, oil life, voltage etc. If I don't send the scangauge II in to be updated I can see a Scangauge III in my near future. My truck is in production finally and I will be scraping together all of the liquid cash I can to pay it for it outright so I may have to wait a few months... I will be following this thread in the mean time!

You mean I do not have to count the swipes on my Ohm meter any more to get a fault code? LOL (ref 1992 Mustang)
Yes, and no more poking wires or using a breakout box to get data.

I have an old Scanguage II also, used it on multiple vehicles from Nissan Hardbody, multiple Prius', Miata, 2001 Ranger and now Maverick. Still have not sent it for updating, but probably will as there are many other pricey things I want for the Maverick. Really have come to depend on the water temp info in the cooler weather before turning on the heat. I do want the HVB state of charge info so I will send it in when the weather warms up. Don't plan to do any max weight or long distance towing so I don't think I'd use all the other info on SG III. Anyone have input on this?

Coolant temp and HVB State-of-Charge are the two main things that I view on a regular basis.

As far as I know, every parameter for the SG3 can be programmed into the SG2 with the appropriate firmware.

With time it is entirely possible that I will move back to using the SG2 full time because I can mount it behind the steering wheel. Knowing what I know now my full time display would be:

1. Coolant Temp
2. HVB State-of-Charge
3. Engine RPM
4. HVB Amps (shows power flow in or out of HVB)

I need to send mine back too

Thanks for that info, that's just what I wanted to know. I didn't know that power in and out of the HVB was available either.

since ur the king of all things Maverick & Scangauge3, got a few questions:
do you see your hybrid battery trickle depleting when parked overnight?
is there a risk having SG3 plugged into the ODB2 at all times?
if so, is there a disconnect switch you can buy or only surefire way is to pull the plug from the ODB2 connector vs the ethernet connection?

profile says GPSman is banned, anyone know what happened?

Yes - A little bit. Less than 5%, usually more like 2%. Mostly temperature related.

No

No disconnect is available that I am aware of. It would be unnecessay.

That username may have been banned, but it's safe to say that he's still around. You can understand why he might not want to associate with this username after being banned.

Best of luck.

Love the scangage 2. Small and not distracted by the data overload. Had it updated for $35. Include return shipping. I love that they support it long after most products would be obsolete and in the landfill
