I plan on getting my Mav Ziebart. Plus there is that one spot in back by muffler that people added some metal to protect an area that will clog up with road debris. Its posted on a thread in here some were.

Woolwax, I bought the kit with a couple gallons and the pneumatic applicator a few years back, the only complaint I have is how messy it is when I need to wrench on something. Totally worth it when you clean your working area and all the metal and hardware doesn't look like it came off the Titanic.

You can coat it yourself if you have a decent compressor at home, cover your brakes with plastic bags, lay down some tarps, and make sure to clear any small drain holes if they get clogged. It takes a couple hours and a half gallon per car for the first application, after that you can get away with cleaning any super gunked areas and spot-treating.

CRC SP-400 on this end. Woolwax & NH Oil is great stuff too. I remember Ziebart from years ago. I did not realize they were still around. Another old name is Tuff Coat Dinol from back in the day. Hahaha.

Was not sure what NH oil was. Found it on the web an, undercoating service. See that they also offer rodent protection. Not sure how that works. Wish it did because I have that issue.

Not exactly sure how or what is applied but I understand it has lilac oil or scent in it. Rodents are supposed to hate the smell and avoid it. Not sure if it works or not. I have tried the stick to the wall type lilac rodent things in my box truck. didn't see a mouse till they ran out of oil. That could have just been timing

Woolwax on my wife's Jeep and CRC on my 05 Ranger. My local mechanic does the NH Oil product which he swears by but I have no personal experience with. I am keeping an open mind though on doing my Mav with it over the CRC. Gonna have plenty of time to think it through though. LOL.

Yeah all these mouse repellent things are hard to quantify if they work. Knew a guy that one year trapped 18 of em in his RV. The next year he had none. They are saying soy based insulation on the wiring makes it more prone to them. I have a Mr2 Spyder not driven in the winter seen a good share of em. Once first drive after winter one ran over my wife's foot in the car. She walked home. I worry more about rodents than I do rust.

I had my Ecoboost rust proofed by Bullet Liner in Green Bay, WI. They use auto armor, a 2 part process. spray rustproofing in all the books & crannys, hood, tailgate, doors, everywhere underneath, in vehicle drain holes, then let dry. After that, a rubbery pliable spray that won't crack & locks in rustproofing. They did my bed liner also, excellent quality.

I make my own concoction. I mix 1 quart linseed oil with one quart bar oil, then thin it with kerosene, 1-2 quarts. This will spray very nicely with a small fruit tree sprayer eliminating the need for an air compressor and vastly reduces over spray and oil mist from making a mess in your garage or driveway. I covered all the electrical plugs found under the belly cover pans with tin foil to keep the stuff from seeping into this connectors. I painted all the welds on the exhaust system with Eastwood gray exhaust coating. I removed all the door panels and fender liners as well. If you are eco conscious, put Harbor Freight moving blankets under the truck and after a day of dripping, burn them.

Even though I am in central Texas, I often go down to the coast (Galveston/Corpus/Padre). I put on a thick coat of Fluid Film within 2 days of getting my Maverick. While I have a compressor/sprayer/etc., I found it much easier to just put on with a brush and gloves. Probably missed a few spots that would have been easier with a spray but pretty sure I also got a few spots that a spray would not normally get. If I decide I need it inside the doors, I will just buy the spray-can version of Fluid Film for that. You can buy a gallon of Fluid Film (same thing as Woolwax but different consistency) on Amazon for around $45. I just transfered it to an old pint-sized plastic peanut butter jar for ease of use. I used a stiff painters brush that was just slightly thinner than the top of the jar (so about 2.5 inches or so). I ended up using 2 pints for everything.

I basically just backed my Maverick up backwards on ramps. Doing that, it was easy to get underneath. I also removed the two cubby covers on the bed since that hug space is one of the main areas that will rust (needed to do this anyway since installed 2 new cubbies on my XL). You will want to use really thick cotton (or leather) gloves since there are a TON of sharp surfaces. Overall, the stamped parts and welds on the Maverick seem to be functional but pretty much crap from a fit and finish perspective (and pottentially why they tend to rust faster than some other trucks). As for the application, I would wipe on with the brush and then use my gloved hand to get in all the cracks and odd angles. It took me about 45 minutes or so for the underneath and wheel-wells (from the cubby holes). Best to wear old/throw-away clothes since you will ultimately get the Fluid Film all over you no matter how careful you try not to (and I am sure spraying is even worse). I also coated the entire top surface of the bed with Fluid Film before putting down a Muslogy bed cover (by the way, the Muslogy bed cover is great. Well worth the $90).
