Rust prevention spray coating worth it?

If installed correctly, yes. Lots of plastic and felt to remove plus the taillights. Holes to drill in the doors, cab corners and remove plate on the tailgate to spray inside that as well. My quote is $550.00 USD and the shop need the truck for 2 days.

Yes. I simply “fluid film” (NH Hydraulics back to black recently,Undercoating) my cars every few years. Yes it works, it’s only about $25 worth of product per vehicle and it takes 30-45 Minutes under it on ramps. I do inside all frame members, behind all wheel wells, suspension, members, inside door drains, rocker drains and corners. Completely coat the underside. I also paint any bare parts (driveshafts etc) with rustoleum. It works, is cheap and worth the money and effort..

Some garages only charge $150-200 to do this service. They do not get into the inner doors etc, but better than nothing.

I used 2 cans of vinyl spray undercoat but I live in FL and don't drive on the beach. Used high temperature paint on the exhaust system to make it look good while melting from the inside out.

Just remember when you have aftermarket rust inhibitor like Zeibart it will void your vehicle warrenty as pertaining to rust. My dealer informed me of this because they will drill holes to inject the rust inhibitor.

If I remember correctly you have to have cancer eating an actual hole in the sheet metal before they will fix it, not just rust or bulging paint. With Zeibart that doesn't happen. Here in Wi I think it's a must.

I'm a fan of Fluid Film. I did it to my '22 Mav and am going to do it this month to my '23 Mav. Lots of splash guards to remove but it is worth it. It stays soft, is self healing and most importantly it doesn't allow water to get stuck between it and the metal. I would never ever put Zeibart or any other rubberized undercoating that they keep adding on every year as part of their warranty. It can cause more rust problems than an uncoated vehicle because water can get between the metal and coating if it fails and the water has no place to go. There are a lot of repair shops around here that will refuse to work on a vehicle that has that stuff on it.

Just had krowns done on my Hybrid Mav. I forgot the hood was aluminum which they sprayed the underside. i would have told them not to. Will it work i have no clue as its the first time I used this brand,. Buffalo NY so a lot of SALT on the roads. With tax $172. You have it done every year. I did drip the first day left it in the street that day BUT parked in driveway that night no drips i can see on cement,
